Have you seen high school sweethearts? Well here is an adorable couple for your afternoon craving for romance <3. This couple (Unnati & Dhrupad) met in high school via a mutual friend and have been dating each for the last 8 years.
After Dhrupad and Unnati ended up on a cruise together to Mexico last year, they decided it was time to tie the knot. Given that they both love food and life in general, the didn’t need much else in common. Also, one of them is an engineer and the other a nurse, Ill let you guess who is who.
I met this couple after they came across a photo I took for Tooba & Shahmeran’s Wedding. After our first meeting at a coffee shop, I knew I wanted to tell this couple’s story and I am glad I got the chance!
As Dhrupad hadn’t technically proposed to Unnati, I helped him setup the proposal by distracting Unnati during the photo shoot and letting Dhrupad sneak in behind her and get on his knee. It was adorable to see this happening!
We start the session at Muttart Conservatory and then as it got progressively colder, we move to El Cortez. El Cortez (Mexican Restaurant) happens to one of my favorite places for both food and photography so we were able to create some amazing artwork there!
Bitten by the travel bug, my dream now is to photograph love on every corner of the earth! If you are an adventurous soul who yearns to create some amazing photographs, contact me and we will have some cool adventures together! PS We will also have amazing coffee and food to plan out the adventure first!

Edmonton Bridal Stylist – Featured Vendor – Tyrel Abbott Weddings
As part of our commitment to our clients and their wedding day, we often partner with other vendors to see if they would be a good fit for our clients. Those partnerships usually lead to great results and we are then able to refer those vendors to our clients, as we trust them. One such partnership was that with Tyrel Abbott who is a bridal stylist.
What is a bridal stylist or wedding day fashion stylist?
Wedding days are huge moments in the couple’s life and a bridal stylist allows them to plan those moments according to their sense of fashion and style. It includes helping you decide on the dress, jewelry and even the shoes you will wear on the wedding day. A bridal stylist will give you advice on a hairstyle that will work well for your look as well as the kind of makeup that would look amazing.
I had the pleasure of working with Tyrel Abbott who was a current fashion director for “Say Yes to the Dress Canada”. He is a Bridal stylist who has styled many brides head-to- toe for their wedding day.
Here is the interview with Tyrell Abbott:
How did you get started?
My career as a Bridal Stylist began when I was helping a friend who was shopping for a wedding dress. Unintentionally, I took over her appointment and the owner of the store noticed, she later reached out to me and offered me a job.
Tell me about your favorite wedding last season.
I worked with a bride last year that had overcome some big personal issues. Because of this she was having difficulties envisioning her body in a dress. She had heard about me from a friend of hers who I had dressed for her wedding. I loved that I could help her see that she was beautiful and worthy of having the best day. We shopped at several stores and through a few tears found her perfect dress. I love helping brides find that!
How far out should a bride pay a deposit to secure your services for her wedding day?
Weddings take time to plan. If you are seeking my services as a Bridal Stylist purely for shopping, I’d recommend booking two months ahead of when you plan to order your dress which is typically six to nine months before your wedding date. If you are looking for full-service freelance Wedding Planning, I’d recommend booking shortly after your engagement, when you are ready to start sorting out the specifics. Deposits are made within 2 weeks of booking me and the balance is due 10 days prior to the event or at the completion of finding your dress.
What is included when a couple books your services for their wedding?
It depends on what they need from me. I do everything from planning and coordinating, dressing the couple, finding vendors and hair services if required.
For full-service Wedding Planning, I offer unlimited phone and email consultations and a minimum of 10 hrs in person. If a bride has hired me just to find her a dress, I will do what it takes to find her the dress.
I will always tailor the package to the specific needs of the couple; I want everything about their wedding day to be better than what they imagined.
How do you help couples customize their wedding?
Once I understand their vision, I become the curator of their wedding day. I will take all of the ideas a couple might have and edit them into an event like no other. Most people have never planned a wedding and don’t know where to start, whereas, I have experience planning many, an eye for detail and long list of contacts that specialize in creating anything a bride or groom might wish for.
What is one interesting fact about your services?
One interesting fact about my services is that I styled brides on a national scale. As a Fashion Director on season two of W Network’s Say Yes to the Dress Canada, you can pull up past episodes and see me at work. So I have a great knowledge of trends and have worked with every type of bride.
What do you have planned for the future?
I have many weddings in my future! I would love to style brides internationally but we will have to wait and see.
How many people can you accommodate? (i.e bridal party makeup)
As a hairstylist I can accommodate almost any number. I have a second stylist that works with me and we work very well together.
What makes your services unique?
There are not a lot of people that have the hands-on experience that I do in so many aspects of a wedding. I understand the hairstyles, fashion, design and the logistics that need to all come together for a flawless event.
How long has this business been a part of the community?
I have been in the hair industry for over 15 years and weddings for 4 years.

Doyle’s Engagement Session at Victoria Park, Edmonton // Edmonton Engagement Photographers
Nicolle & Stephen | Their Story <3
Nicolle & Stephen are cute. No, that is an understatement. They are a very cute couple. They are extremely photogenic and have the best candid expressions even with a huge camera staring at them. I had the privilege of photographing this couple’s engagement session! I will also be photographing their wedding in September and I am so excited about that! Here are some photos from their engagement session in our signature engagement slideshow:
https://vimeo.com/177160904
Location: Victoria Park
Our choice of location was based on the couple’s preference for nature. Summer in Edmonton is an amazing time for photos and almost any location can serve well! Victoria park was a great location for photos due to the green trees, fences and beautiful pathway. All of these elements show up in our photos for the couple below.
It was a very warm and beautiful day. It was sunny with the perfect amount of wind and obscene number of mosquitoes.
Here are some of the photos of the couple during the rest of the engagement session:

Allison’s Portraits at Terwillegar Park, Edmonton Alberta | Edmonton Portrait Photographer
Every now and then I get a chance to collaborate with some amazing individuals in my profession. These rare chances allow me to experiment with new gear, techniques and idea that I would otherwise never try on a client’s shoot. Given these opportunities are rare and far few to my liking, I savor them when they do arrive. Taking portraits at Terwillegar Park was such a opportunity and I ensured we produced some excellent results while having a fun afternoon!
One of these opportunities showed up on in the month of May when I collaborated with Riti Jain from Makeup & Hair by Riti and Allison Martin. Allison was the model while Riti provided us with her expertise of makeup and hair. We choose a wardrobe based around the idea of complimentary colors.
The location was the beautiful Terwillegar Park in Edmonton, Alberta. Its located near the Saskatchewan River but unfortunately we were unable to access the river due to rainy weather conditions.
Here are some of the fantastic images we were able to produce in our collaboration:
This particular image was one of the more signature shots that I am able to produce my clients. It utilizes a off camera flash in combination with a very shallow depth of field to produce the beautiful bokeh. The ‘bokeh’ refers to the creamy dissolved background behind the model that ensures that the model stands out from the background.
None of the images would be possible without the assistance of Sharon Martin, Allison’s (awesome) mother! She was not only a trooper in the poor weather conditions but actually managed to crack quite a few jokes (some at my expense!) to keep our spirits up!
Box Cube Photography Strives to provide Edmonton Brides with the best in wedding photography services. Our commitment to your big day goes beyond just the wedding itself, it extends into the wedding planning stage as well. Therefore, these collaborations provide us with significant background info regarding the vendors we recommend to you.
Black and white portraits carry amazing potential due to the fact that they strip away the color that acts as almost a distraction thus leaving us with an uninhibited view of the raw image. The only thing that matters int he image is the subject, the emotion and the action visible within the photo. It is almost a synthesis of pure storytelling without the “fluff” of color. Thus, black and white portraits occupy a special place in my heart!

We often work with other vendors and we recommend them based on the quality of their services. This helps us provide an entire stress-free experience to our clients. This includes recommending vendors that the clients may be in need of. We often do short interviews with those vendors to ensure our clients know who they might be dealing with.
Riti Jain happens to be one of the hair and makeup artist in Edmonton we often work with. She is often a part of our team when we do collaborative shoots as well for engagement hair and makeup. Did we mention those come complimentary with our wedding packages?
Here is a small snippet of the behind the scenes video of a collaboration we recently worked on together (Model: Patricia Stables)! As you can see she is quite the magician with makeup and hair!
https://vimeo.com/169462910
How did you get started?
I started when I was going through a phase of life. I wanted to get back to my artistic roots. I started exploring some part-time makeup courses and found one that I really liked. At that time I just wanted to do this as a hobby but one of my classmates offered me to do a collaborative photo shoot with her. I did makeup and hair for a model which led me to realize that I have potential to be a freelance makeup and hair artist.
Tell me about your favorite wedding last season.
I had a chance to do makeup for a South Indian wedding where they had three different ceremonies within a day. In the morning, it was a western church ceremony. The afternoon consisted of a traditional Hindu wedding. The evening consisted of a mix of Indo-western reception. I enjoyed that since the bride was extremely easygoing and we had a friendly dynamic. Spending the entire day with the bride was a new experience. We joked around and the family treated me like I was on of theirs. This was refreshing.
How far out should a bride pay a deposit to secure your services for her wedding day?
The moment a bride books her venue and photographer, she should book the hair and makeup artist around the same time. This is usually at least 6 months before the wedding date. Although there are opening after those dates as well but doing so this much in advance ensures your date isn’t already booked.
What is included when a couple books your services for their wedding?
I offer separate trial and wedding packages. I offer a free consultation that involves going through the various idea and thoughts that the clients have for hair and makeup. This also involves skin analysis. This consultation also allows me to meet my clients and understand their needs thus ensuring a personalized service.
How do you help couples customize their wedding?
I am very flexible in terms of the look that my clients want to achieve. My clientele is very diverse and includes people from all races and cultural backgrounds. This give me the ability to adapt looks to different clients and ensure that you look your best on the wedding day.
What is one interesting fact about your services?
The diversity in my portfolio and my ability to adapt to various different looks.
What do you have planned for the future?
I plan on opening my own studio and supervise my own team of like-minded makeup and hair artists.
How many people can you accommodate? (i.e bridal party makeup)
Up-to 8 people easily. I often work with another artist who assists me for bigger bridal parties.
What makes your services unique?
I am a very good listener and I strive to provide amazing client service.
How long has this business been a part of the community?
3 years

Cook’s Wedding in Calgary Wedding Pavilion & Carriage House Inn
A beautiful Fall Wedding in Calgary, Alberta
Monika & Anthony decided to tie the knot on the 10th of October 2015. Their wedding was held at the Calgary’s Wedding Pavilion & Carriage House Inn. I was fortunate enough to be a part of their wedding day in collaboration with JM Photography. These are the photographs from their wedding and showcase what a beautiful ceremony it was!
Bride Getting Ready
Monika did most of her bridal prep at the Calgary Wedding Pavillion where the other bridesmaids assisted her. We got some photos of the dress being put on, some detail shots of the jewellery as well as some photos of the beautiful venue itself.
The Wedding Ceremony at the Calgary Wedding Pavillion
Wedding ceremonies represent not only the personality of the couple but also how they envision their lives ahead. Monika & Anthony’s ceremony was not only beautiful but it took place in the stunning Wedding Pavillion. It featured beautiful chandeliers and an amazing array of windows along the walls. Monika entered gracefully via the gorgeous staircase. This led to a magnificent ceremony which was followed by some family portraits and creative formals.
Creative Formals at the Fish Creek Park in Calgary, Alberta
Following the beautiful ceremony, we went down to the Fish Creek Park in Calgary to photograph the bridal party. During the formals, the guys had a lot of fun with the groom where they picked him up at one point in time.
We found a beautiful clearing in the woods that was lined by birch trees. It created a fantastic backdrop for these formals that you can see below:
We also ran into a generous individual who let us borrow his bike for some amazing photos!
Wedding Reception at the Carriage House Inn
Following the formals we travelled down to the Carriage House Inn in Calgary. This venue was equally beautiful if not more than the Calgary Wedding Pavilion. The wedding reception was themed around a rustic look that was well complemented by the wooden decorations.
Bride and groom entered to a jubilant crowd that cheered them on periodically during dinner (thus leading to kisses). During the dinner, there were some tearful speeches followed by the classic shoe game.
A gorgeous three-tiered cake was created by the venue. You can see that it was not only beautiful but delicious.
It was a great and beautiful day and I was honoured to spend it with this wonderful couple. Want to share the Box Cube Photography experience? Contact Me today to book your free consultation.

Below are some of the images from Brittney & Mike’s wedding that we shot with JM Photography. These photographs showcase a candid story of the day from the First Look down to the reception itself.
First Look at Bow River
The wedding day began with Mike waiting for his bride with his groomsmen at the bottom of a river valley that sits next to the Bow River in Calgary. While the groom and the groomsmen waited (and drank from their flasks) we took some awesome photographs that showcased this beautiful location!
Below are the photographs of Mike’s expression as he saw Brittany walk in through the breezy alley in her majestic wedding dress. The first moment they shared together evidently proclaimed “this is love”. It was a special moment that I felt honored to share with them.
As you can see from Mike’s expression, he was fairly anxious to see his bride to be 😛
Majestic trees do tend to help create amazing photographs and I am so glad to have had this tree assisting us. It formed both a shelter for the bride and groom and a great background for the photograph themselves. Accompanied with a shimmering river and a wonderful sunny afternoon, I could not have wished for better conditions.
The Ceremony at the Blue Devil Golf Course, Calgary
After taking a few more photographs with the bridal party, we started heading towards the Blue Devil Gold Club in Calgary to photograph the ceremony itself.
If the location of the formals was fantastic, then the ceremony location was gorgeous. It was situated on a veranda with a grand view of the golf course around it. Mike & Brittany professed their love to a cheering crowd and became one family. They exchanged rings and kissed at the end of a beautiful and simple ceremony.
Reception with a Pie! (you really wanna read this part!)
Not only is the Blue Devil Golf Course an excellent venue for the ceremony but also a great venue for the reception itself! The reception was held in one of the banquet halls where the Bride & Groom’s family and loved ones gathered. The decor was stylistic and rustic with accents of wood and fabric. You could see how much care and love had been poured into planning the wedding. In particular, there was a tree with Mike and Brittany’s name on the floor that was made out of a light shining through a mold. That, in my opinion, was fantastic.
Instead of choosing to do what everybody does, Brittany and Mike chose to get a pie instead of a cake for their wedding.
Following the cake cutting, the couple danced to a few slow songs followed by the parents joining them on the dancefloor. It was an excellent way to end the evening.
It was a great and beautiful day and I was honored to spend it with this wonderful couple. Want to share the Box Cube Photography experience? Contact Me today to book your free consultation.

Andrea & Mark’s Engagement Session at Victoria Park Ice Rink in Edmonton
A cold, snowy but beautiful afternoon in Edmonton!
https://vimeo.com/152016877
After having met Andrea and Mark in a cafe over coffee, I knew this session would be amazing. To say that the session went well would be quite an understatement. It was extremely cold that day and it was snowing heavily. Perfect conditions for some amazing snow photos!
This is their story and I am so glad I got to be a part of it!
After having met at the Ranch, Edmonton in 2013 during a party, Mark and Andrea decided there was something to explore beyond friendship here. They started dating shortly afterwards and did not attend many parties thereafter(not being party people themselves!). Being an adventurous couple, they went rock climbing and camping many times. On November 28th, 2015 Mark decided he wanted this beautiful woman to be a permanent part of his life and proposed to her in front of the Alberta Legislature. Andrea accepted and shortly after their engagement they met me and I got to hear this awesome love story. After hearing that both Mark and Andrea were expert ice skaters (Andrea is a figure skater!!), we decided an ice rink was the place to go! Mark and Andrea brought their Oiler’s Jerseys as well to show their love for their home team! Go Oilers!
Mark and Andrea’s Engagement Photos in Edmonton at the Ice Rink
We started off near the entrance of the Victoria Park in Edmonton and booted up to avoid the cold! That is when I started shooting away and saw the magic happen. Yes, Magic aka Love. Andrea and Mark were two bodies but one soul and their smiles and laughs were evidence of their love for each other! Look at these photos and tell me if it isn’t true?
Squirrel! Squirrel! Squirrel!
Well at one point I saw that the snowfall is extremely heavy around where Mark and Andrea were standing. It got me thinking, “How the hell is that possible?”. I look up and there is a squirrel moving the branches causes excess snowfall! Wow… Divine intervention?
Aren’t Engagement Rings Awesome?
Mark and Andrea love hockey and anything related to it. Therefore, their ring had to be hosted on a crow of a hockey puck as seen below!
Because Umbrella!
Now if there is snowfall, my brain defaults “Pretty pictureeesss!”. Mark and Andrea had a particular fascination with One Photo I took for Shahmeran & Tooba a year ago under a lit umbrella with snowfall happening around them. Well, we had to do that again!
Mark & Andrea’s Online Gallery
Mark and Andrea’s photos from their engagement session will be available at the following gallery for the next 30 days. From the online gallery, you are to able to select your favorite photos, order any prints or albums. You will require a password from Mark and Andrea to access the gallery below:

I was fortunate to experience Mark and Andrea’s love by taking their engagement photos and I look forward to photographing their wedding.

Yumba Family Photo shoot at the William Hawerlak Park, Edmonton, Alberta
The Fall Evening Sunlight created the perfect backdrop for these family photos!
Sugar and Charlen Yumba decided that they wanted a family photo shoot with the fading fall colours. That is when we decided to have the beautiful scenery of the William Hawerlak Park as the backdrop of these gorgeous photos!
I love seeing families come together and family photos make a perfect excuse to do that! This family session was an absolute pleasure to do since I had a chance to work with three restless but wonderful children! As can be seen from their photos, they were a bundle of energy to say the least!
The evening light and the fall colours came together perfectly to give us the beautiful orange and yellow colours!
Family photoshoots are so much fun! They are always full of energy and happy emotions!
