THE ENGAGEMENT RING AND HOW THEY MET
Ajay & Leina met in 2012 when they were two young-eyed students living in Lister Hall at the University of Alberta. At that time, Ajay was a residence assistant and Leina ran into him. From the first sight, she was smitten and actually told me about him in one of our classes since we used to be students together. Ajay soon found out about this doe-eyed beautiful girl who kept flirting glances at him whenever he was in the hallways and he knew he had to ask her out. Ajay slipped a poem under Leina’s door on Valentine’s day and as they say, the rest is history!
Ajay proposed to Leina in a unique way. He wrote a book about their story titled “A little Bit of Everything” and had it published. Then one evening, they went out to the Botanical Gardens and later to Bon Accord to watch meteor showers. There, he got down on one knee and recited a poem he had written for Leina and presented her with the book he had written about their story. She cried and said yes. Even I am crying writing this…
This adorable goofy couple is getting married this summer and I can not be more excited to photograph their wedding.
The Engagement Session at Hawrelak Park, Edmonton
We took Ajay & Leina’s Engagement photos at Hawerlak Park in Edmonton. The couple chose this location due to its beautiful greenery and fantastic features including a natural water fountain, a small bridge, and fantastic flora. We walked around for almost 2 hours doing silly things and creating hilarious memories. Their engagement photos focus on telling their story as they include the book Ajay proposed with as well as a picnic that the couple has been meaning to go to for years. If you notice the cover of the book, you will notice that some of the photos are the same as the cover…

THE ENGAGEMENT RING AND HOW THEY MET
The idea of love, at first sight, is delightful.
And sometimes it is just familiarity, where one soul recognizes another and calls it home.
For Jonathan and Nicole, the familiarity turned into something lasting. Their story began at the University of Alberta while volunteering together. Nicole caught John’s attention right away. While their first conversation didn’t go ideally, they gave it a shot and eventually the lovely couple found in each other something special. A classic four prong diamond ring promised forever for these two.
The Engagement Session at University of Alberta Old Arts Building
A building as old as a century, the Arts Building is full of stories. It is no surprise that the couple chose it to commemorate their special day. With its traditional red bricks and creeping vines, it made for the perfect backdrop and added beautiful hues of reds to the couple’s pictures. We had the chance to capture the love in the air surrounded by nature and fall colors.
The couple chose the location for its role in their story, and the pictures reveal their happiness and just how first impressions are not always the end. The day was complemented by the perfect weather.
I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to photograph Nicole and Jonathan’s engagement photos and we are really looking forward to joining them on their wedding day.

The Engagement Ring and the Lovely Couple
We all want to find ‘the one’, and there are thousands of ways to find them. For these two, it was through other loved ones. Baljeet and Gurminder met through an arranged marriage and struck gold! Gurminder put a gorgeous oval cut, floral cluster halo ring on the lovely bride.
The adventurous couple was happy to stroll the grounds and let us capture their love befittingly.
The Engagement Session at The Alberta Legislature Building
A little sunshine, fall colors and crunchy leaves made for the perfect setting of a beautiful engagement session.
The couple chose The Alberta Legislature Building for their engagement session. With its marble pillars and carved oak, the stunning grounds and Beaux-Arts architecture, it is the perfect place to start a new chapter.
The venue is known for its history, the simplicity and the pictures reflect the couple’s own elegance. The greens and yellows made for beautiful backdrops and truly made the pictures a treat. They intend to have their big day in India with friends and family and we hope the occasion turns out perfectly!
I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to photograph Baljeet and Gurminder engagement photos and we wish them the best for their big day.

True love stories never have endings as they say, but they definitely have many beginnings. Engagements for example are always the beginning of a new chapter of hopeful many in love stories. In the case of the lovely couple Paola and Olsi, this new chapter of eternal commitment was heralded with a promise in the form of a ring. Their engagement ring is a classical and elegant round cut diamond set in a multi-stone halo. And we have had the privilege to commemorate their new chapter, and help them tell this part of their story, the way they want it o be told. Our photographs of Paola and Olsi happy and in love are the coulorful words with which we write to welcome them to their soon wedded bliss.
The Engagement Session in Edmonton’s Government House
The Engagement photo session took place at Edmonton’s Government House. This location is both historic and gorgeous in the way it combines the beauty of architecture with the beauty of nature. The Government House has a fabulous well cared for garden, and we have been successful in pairing the popping greenery with a golden sunset that adorned the love of our young couple. We are happy to have had the chance to contribute in immortalizing this moment of joy for Paola and Olsi and we wish them tons more. Their engagement photos reflect their delicate deep love, and we have certainly captured more of these warm fuzzy feelings from many angles.

THE ENGAGEMENT RING AND HOW THEY MET
Hufsah and Harris met through mutual friends. They`ve been hearing of each other for a while, and finally met about a year ago. Their engagement was a cultural traditional Pakistani one, where both families came together on April 14th, 2018 in Calgary to give their blessings and support to the betrothed couple. During this celebration, Harris offered Hufsah a gorgeous princess cut diamond set in a stunning double halo ring
Hufsah is Calgarian and Harris is Edmontonian; nonetheless, he has had an interesting life between many places such as Dubai and Pakistan. The happy couple are both bankers who share a love for good food, nature, hiking and exploring trails.
The Engagement Session at the University of Alberta’s old Arts building
The engagement photo session took place at the Old Arts building at the University of Alberta, a location that is not strange to couples wishing to celebrate and commemorate their love. The romance was in the air, a mix of architectural and natural wonders. We took beautiful pictures of the happy bride and groom to be while surrounded by the carefully cared for foliage and pond of the university, and its resident playful squirrels. And the enjoyable session was complemented by a warm rain

Congratulations on your recent engagement! In preparation for the wedding and everything in between, you have quite the “to-do” list. What’s the first step? Perhaps your engagement photo shoot should be at the top. Finding a good spot to capture your happiness for what is to come is not always easy, but here is a great place to start. Here are the 10 best Edmonton engagement photography locations for you two to choose from:
Fort Edmonton Park
At Fort Edmonton Park, you are able to immerse yourself in a world of vintage attractions and unique entertainment. Your engagement photos with your fiancé can have an expansive variety of themes here. For photo shoots, you are granted after-hours access to all areas within the park in the evening for a moderate price. I took Elissa and Shawn’s Edmonton engagement photography here and you can see for yourself what the area looks like.
El Cortez Restaurant
When you think of a place for your Edmonton engagement photography session location, you may not think about restaurants being the excellent locations they are. These shoots are often more intimate and set apart from others. I shot a couple at El Cortez Restaurant (and if you want to check out the result, click here!) Donned in trendy local art with an eclectic energy, I suggest a place like this.
Muttart Conservatory
One of the most special locations, Muttart Conservatory contains four different indoor botanical gardens found inside of glass pyramids. This makes a stunning scene any time of the year. Its’ indoor waterways, bridges and spectacular greenery and gardens will always provide the perfect places to pose you and your fiancé. But: make sure you book far in advance– it is a popular spot that fills up quickly!
William Hawrelak Park
Clearly, a park will almost always provide a fantastic place to shoot your Edmonton engagement photography. This is mostly because of the variety of scenery, lighting and freedom to move around. William Hawrelak Park has several backdrops to choose from. These include a lake, a playground (for the young-at-heart couples!) and winding trails surrounded by stunning foliage. Check out this shoot I did of a couple’s engagement photos at this park!
Louise McKinney Park
I shot Mona and Justin’s engagement photography here and enjoyed the location tremendously. The Louise McKinney Park has so many features that make it totally unique and special. Some of the main attractions include a breathtaking Chinese garden (for a more oriental feel), the “World Walk” (giving a horticultural aesthetic), the “Millennium Plaza/Shumka Stage” (a grand stage with brilliant architecture) and many more options. Of all the places, this park has the most variety in options as far as themes for shoots go!
So, first step in picking an engagement shoot location is decide what theme/feel/style you and your fiancé are interested. Follow this list of places to choose from and do a little more in-depth research on the place you do decide upon.

High Level Bridge
One of the more unique places to shoot, the High Level Bridge is a fascinating landmark that will make your engagement photos stand out from the crowd. What makes this bridge different than others is the brilliant lighting it has. It’s no ordinary street lamp lighting, either. Thanks to Light the Bridge campaign, it is covered in 60,000 LED bulbs! This ensures a dazzling shoot one would never forget.
Edmonton City Hall
Edmonton City Hall is an architectural masterpiece; a perfect backdrop that cultivates unique shots. The landmark is a one-of-a-kind, communal place open to the public, allowing professional photography shoots in 1.5 hour time slots that are very affordable. Its’ pyramid rooftops allow for excellent lighting while the inside is decorated with sections of pillars, staircases and other features for interesting sets. Outside there is a water fountain, too, making outdoor summer shoots splendid.
McKay School
This historical Edmonton engagement photography location is a precious gem found in downtown Edmonton, AB. Once a school built in 1906, it is now the Edmonton Public Schools Archive and Museum. It has a gazebo and well-kept grounds that are around the building. Inside are inspiring arched doorways and stone steps that will give a vintage and not-so-average engagement photo shoot. It is another location where architecture can play an interesting role in the background for you two that we can get creative with.
Union Bank Inn
Union Bank Inn makes for a great set for your engagement photography! If you’re going for the cool “downtown” look, the outdoor facade will deliver that exactly. If, in fact, you do decide to do your engagement photos here and hold your wedding here as well, it would be fun to reference certain pictures and poses taken during your engagement shoot while at the wedding!
Gallagher Park
Gallagher Park is most well-known as being the location for the Edmonton Folk Music Festival. It is outdoors, so ideas for poses and places to go are endless. This park is known to contain many activities such as skiing, tobogganing, picnics and hanging out with the whole family. Options are plenty for fun, spontaneous props and scenes here. At night, we can get romantic couple shots of you and your fiancé over the sparkling city skyline.

In order to create the most amazing experience for our wedding clients, we offer complimentary engagement sessions and hair and makeup with those engagement sessions. We often work with several different professional hair and makeup artists to ensure that our clients customized needs our met. I wanted to introduce the newest member of our Box Cube Vendor team; Emilia from Emilia Art Makeup. She is a hair and makeup artist based out of Calgary and does some amazing things with makeup.

How did you get started?
I have always loved art. Being around art. Being around color.
I was always fascinated by the visage and stylization since I was a teenager. It is my passion, my love, and my life.

I don’t have my favorite one simply because I enjoy every single one I am involved. The whole process of preparations, consultations always brings me closer to my clients.
I feel very emotional with all of my brides and their bridal parties, kind of like part of their family.
How far out should a bride pay a deposit to secure your services for her wedding day?
Actually, deposit it’s a very important part of the booking. Deposit secure wedding day and should be paid as soon as the bride is 100% sure to book our services. Days not secured with deposit are open to anyone who is interested in booking our services.
What is included when a couple books your services for their wedding?
I offer different packages to personalize clients needs, the best is to contact me to discuss everything.
How do you help couples customize their wedding?
I offer a free consultation which allows me to meet my clients and understand their needs and personalized they services.
What is one interesting fact about your services?
I find nothing more inspiring or challenging than to be a part of a creative team where all our ideas collectively make the beautiful work.
However, if you add a little bit of heart and hard work, you are able to create a true masterpiece. The piece, of the most beautiful art on a human face.
This is exactly what I am doing, I enhance the real beauty, which resides in every woman.
What do you have planned for the future?
I would love to focus on the growth of my company and in the near future to be able to do all services in my own studio.
How many people can you accommodate? (i.e bridal party makeup)
up to 8, when the timing is limited I have artists who help me with bigger bridal parties if necessary.
What makes your services unique?
My ability to adapt to various different looks.
Whether I am working backstage on a parade, on location for a fashion shoot or in a studio, being flexible and easy-going to bring out the best in any subject. Having regular exposure to production give me an understanding of the entire team workflow and adjust to the circumstances required in not only meeting but exceeding creative briefs.
How long has this business been a part of the community?
I have been in Canada for over 4 years but basically, I have worked for over 8 years as a makeup artist.

Nicolle & Stephen are cute. No, that is an understatement. They are a very cute couple. They are extremely photogenic and have the best candid expressions even with a huge camera staring at them. I had the privilege of photographing this couple’s engagement session! I will also be photographing their wedding in September and I am so excited about that! Location: Victoria Park
Our choice of location was based on the couple’s preference for nature. Summer in Edmonton is an amazing time for photos and almost any location can serve well! Victoria park was a great location for photos due to the green trees, fences and beautiful pathway. All of these elements show up in our photos for the couple below.
It was a very warm and beautiful day. It was sunny with the perfect amount of wind and obscene number of mosquitoes.

Andrea & Mark’s Engagement Session at Victoria Park Ice Rink in Edmonton
A cold, snowy but beautiful afternoon in Edmonton!

After having met Andrea and Mark in a cafe over coffee, I knew this session would be amazing. To say that the session went well would be quite an understatement. It was extremely cold that day and it was snowing heavily. Perfect conditions for some amazing snow photos!
This is their story and I am so glad I got to be a part of it!
After having met at the Ranch, Edmonton in 2013 during a party, Mark and Andrea decided there was something to explore beyond friendship here. They started dating shortly afterwards and did not attend many parties thereafter(not being party people themselves!). Being an adventurous couple, they went rock climbing and camping many times. On November 28th, 2015 Mark decided he wanted this beautiful woman to be a permanent part of his life and proposed to her in front of the Alberta Legislature. Andrea accepted and shortly after their engagement they met me and I got to hear this awesome love story. After hearing that both Mark and Andrea were expert ice skaters (Andrea is a figure skater!!), we decided an ice rink was the place to go! Mark and Andrea brought their Oiler’s Jerseys as well to show their love for their home team! Go Oilers!

We started off near the entrance of the Victoria Park in Edmonton and booted up to avoid the cold! That is when I started shooting away and saw the magic happen. Yes, Magic aka Love. Andrea and Mark were two bodies but one soul and their smiles and laughs were evidence of their love for each other! Look at these photos and tell me if it isn’t true?
Squirrel! Squirrel! Squirrel!
Well at one point I saw that the snowfall is extremely heavy around where Mark and Andrea were standing. It got me thinking, “How the hell is that possible?”. I look up and there is a squirrel moving the branches causes excess snowfall! Wow… Divine intervention?
Aren’t Engagement Rings Awesome?
Mark and Andrea love hockey and anything related to it. Therefore, their ring had to be hosted on a crow of a hockey puck as seen below!

Now if there is snowfall, my brain defaults “Pretty pictureeesss!”. Mark and Andrea had a particular fascination with One Photo I took for Shahmeran & Tooba a year ago under a lit umbrella with snowfall happening around them. Well, we had to do that again!
