Their Story

Matt & Lauren are two very cool engineers. Their life line were running pretty parallel until they both decided to volunteer while they were in school. As they say, the rest is history. They are both avid snowboarders and share my love for B99!

Ps. there is a new season out for B99 for those of you who are reading this blog!

 

 

A Winter Sunset Engagement Session!

You know what is one really cool thing about being this high up north? Not the snow. Don’t say the snow. It is the sunsets here. They are gorgeous, beautiful and entirely romantic even in sub-zero temperatures. In fact, this is the time I recommend that most couples do their photos because you get the golden hour glow

For Lauren & Matt’s Engagement session, I suggested we go to this amazing lookout spot in Edmonton that would afford us the perfect view of the River Valley and the sunset. This is exactly what the two were looking for. They had even brought along their snowboarding gear so we took some hilarious photos of Lauren ‘riding’ Matt. Trust me, it looks less inappropriate but quite hilarious!

Their Story

This is a story of sweet love and two super adorable humans: Alyssa & Jeemers!

These two love birds met in 2008 as they both went to the same Sunday school. A mutual friend introduced them at the time however their story didn’t start until a few years later. Almost 8.5 years ago, Jeemers thought it would be a good idea to add Alyssa on Facebook and that led to one thing after another. Now the couple is getting ready to start their life together next year.

 

The Ring & Proposal

Jeemers asked Alyssa to marry him in the very same church they had originally met years and years ago! Their family and loved ones joined the couple and even played some music to celebrate the occasion. It couldn’t have been sweeter!

 

The Engagement Session

I suggested to the couple that Whyte Avenue might be a great location for photos and they agreed. We started the morning near the Farmer’s Market where we took some awesome photos. The green gates and graffiti were a fantastic backdrop for their playful photos.

THE ENGAGEMENT SLIDESHOW

Above is the Engagement slideshow that I created for Tobi & Ruth from their engagement photos.

Canada is famous for its winter and its cold. Edmonton even more so. Ruthy & Tobi being the Edmontonians wanted to have a winter engagement session followed by a winter wedding ceremony at the Alberta Legislature Grounds!

We started the morning off by taking some awesome photos of the couple at Strathearn Park. This location was ideal as it overlooked the snow-covered Edmonton skyline but was also surrounded by trees and nature!

After the engagement photos, we headed over to the Legislature Ground where the couple was joined by their family and loved ones. Here, they had Pastor Kathy Zelman perform a wonderful ceremony and tied their knot! Here are some of my favourite photos from their day:

THE ENGAGEMENT RING AND HOW THEY MET

Dan and Giulia met almost 2 years ago at Lakeland College. As they say, the rest is history! They have an adorable family of 3 young boys who are featured in their element in this blog post!

On a side note, Dan had to bribe the 3 boys to get their blessing so he could marry their mom <3 isn’t that adorable!

They are by far one of the funniest couples I have met (and they are laid back!). Their engagement session was a dream. We went out to the Rainbow Valley Park right around sunset to take some dreamy photos of the couple! With the fall foliage in the background and this couple, it was easy to produce these photos 😀

THE ENGAGEMENT RING AND HOW THEY MET

Miranda & Jessie met as children since one of Miranda’s friend’s brother was friends with Jessie. Their love story did not start then though! It starts 10 years later when Miranda & Jessie met again at Blue on Whyte. The reconnected and knew that they had something more than friendship going for them. Two years later, Jessie went down on one knee and asked Miranda to marry him! He also ensured a photographer was there to document the moment!

They are both waterfall chasers and as such, we had to photograph their engagement session at a waterfall! We went to Crescent Falls by Rocky Mountain house and started bright and early right around sunrise. We spent almost the entire morning walking around the beautiful landscape and getting some gorgeous photos of the couple. Miranda wore a beautiful black gown and brought along smoke grenades! Add them together and we had magic!

My partner, Momina was super helpful during the session as she ran around popping the smoke grenade to create the cool smoke clouds you see in the photos below.

Eventually, we hiked down to the waterfall itself where a cold spray of water greeted us. This did nothing to deter this insane couple (in a good way).

Jessie and Nikola met via mutual friends almost a year ago. They knew there was something there as soon as they connected. Their chemistry and their sweet nature just makes for an adorable couple.

We photographed them for their engagement session at the Legislature Building in Downtown Edmonton. The Legislature grounds combined with the majestic architecture overlooking the Edmonton downtown made for some fantastic imagery. I am so glad I got a chance to tell their story and photograph them. They get married next year in Nova Scotia and I wish the very best for this adorable couple 🙂

The Engagement Ring and How They Met

This is one of our favourite posts because their meet-cute story is so cute! And there are cookies?!
Good intentions are rewarded well! In Shaheer and Yusra’s case, it was each other. They found each other when volunteering at an event. Shaheer’s shift was ending and Yusra’s shift was starting, they spoke for a while. As life would have it, they ran into each other again at the Heritage festival. Amongst all those colors and on a bright day, Shaheer finally asked Yusra out.
For their first date, each picked 3 spots and decided on The Common. Shaheer surprised Yusra with homemade cookies (this is our favourite part) so we aren’t shocked that she was smitten. After their date, they went on to walk to the Victoria Promenade and spent the rest of their evening in the beautiful boulevard overlooking the city skyline.
At the end of the day, it is all about finding someone to enjoy life with and these two do! They both love La la Land, they go ceramic painting together and are super nerdy!
It’s no wonder Shaheer asked Yusra to marry him. He promised her forever with a classic round cut diamond ring. Minimalistic and special, the ring gave us all those ‘old love’ vibes.

The Engagement Session at The Promenade

It only made sense for us to revisit where it all began. We went back to The Promenade and there were cookies again. Shaheer and Yusra gave us all the right goals with their cute hugs and moments together. At some points, I felt like they didn’t even see me. The sunset gave the pictures a beautiful background and the light was perfect. We got shots that looked movie-like and shots that were simply them. It is truly magical when you find your best friend and I am so happy I got to do it for these two. Yusra has been a long time friend and I was super excited for the shoot!
