The Reception slideshow above is included in everyone one of our wedding collections and is very well loved by both family and friends. It is composed of a selection of photos from the time the bride and groom are getting ready to the ceremony, family formals and creative formals. It is presented in a classic black and white video format that we show during the reception on a projector and a screen we bring along with us. We also upload the same slideshow the very next day to our blog for everyone to enjoy while we edit and prepare the wedding day images.
Most of our same day edits are always done in black and white as we save the color ones for the completion of their wedding photos.
It was amazing to work with Trina & Joshua on their wedding day and we can’t be more excited to share their final images with them in the coming weeks! You can check out the rest of our work at our blog!

Cute Family, Check, Amazing Couple, Check, Best Wedding Venue in the City, Check, Great Weather, Check. That is what I am talking about when I say this wedding was perfect in every way. Even the cake was perfect down to every fruity flavor! Joe & Benjamin met via Instagram and as they say, the rest is history! Check out the rest of their story here: Joe & Benjamin’s Engagement Session.
The day started off with the bride and groom getting ready at Benjamin’s house in Windsor Estates. The house was a magnificent multi story house that was built by hand by the groom’s parents over a period of 20 years. This put some significant emotional impact on the beautiful location! The same house was also used for family photos and the wedding reception as well.
As Jo was getting ready, she gave her maid of honor and her mother in law a small gift that was met with tears and hugs! They also did a small first look ceremony where Jo & Benjamin saw each other for the first time. It was extremely cute!
The ceremony was held at the Beautiful Hastings Lake gardens. The ceremony was the shortest I have every photographed. It was quick and to the point: celebrate the love of these two lover birds and their new life together.
The venue is a beautiful rustic venue that had a really cool church and a tractor in one area of the property. We got a chance to photograph the amazing couple at these cool locations!
Following the ceremony, we stole the bride and groom from the rest of their guests to photograph them in the beautiful country side of the Hastings Lake Gardens. There was some old farm equipment that we also used to create some amazing portraits for the couple!
Following the creative formal we followed the couple back to the groom’s parent’s house where the reception was to be held. The reception was held outdoors in a pavilion that was setup by Special Event Rentals! They did an amazing job of the decor and it fit the couple’s personality perfectly!

As part of our commitment to our clients and their wedding day, we often partner with other vendors to see if they would be a good fit for our clients. Those partnerships usually lead to great results and we are then able to refer those vendors to our clients, as we trust them. One such partnership was that with Tyrel Abbott who is a bridal stylist.
What is a bridal stylist or wedding day fashion stylist?
Wedding days are huge moments in the couple’s life and a bridal stylist allows them to plan those moments according to their sense of fashion and style. It includes helping you decide on the dress, jewelry and even the shoes you will wear on the wedding day. A bridal stylist will give you advice on a hairstyle that will work well for your look as well as the kind of makeup that would look amazing.
I had the pleasure of working with Tyrel Abbott who was a current fashion director for “Say Yes to the Dress Canada”. He is a Bridal stylist who has styled many brides head-to- toe for their wedding day.
Here is the interview with Tyrell Abbott:
How did you get started?
My career as a Bridal Stylist began when I was helping a friend who was shopping for a wedding dress. Unintentionally, I took over her appointment and the owner of the store noticed, she later reached out to me and offered me a job.
Tell me about your favorite wedding last season.
I worked with a bride last year that had overcome some big personal issues. Because of this she was having difficulties envisioning her body in a dress. She had heard about me from a friend of hers who I had dressed for her wedding. I loved that I could help her see that she was beautiful and worthy of having the best day. We shopped at several stores and through a few tears found her perfect dress. I love helping brides find that!
How far out should a bride pay a deposit to secure your services for her wedding day?
Weddings take time to plan. If you are seeking my services as a Bridal Stylist purely for shopping, I’d recommend booking two months ahead of when you plan to order your dress which is typically six to nine months before your wedding date. If you are looking for full-service freelance Wedding Planning, I’d recommend booking shortly after your engagement, when you are ready to start sorting out the specifics. Deposits are made within 2 weeks of booking me and the balance is due 10 days prior to the event or at the completion of finding your dress.
What is included when a couple books your services for their wedding?
It depends on what they need from me. I do everything from planning and coordinating, dressing the couple, finding vendors and hair services if required.
For full-service Wedding Planning, I offer unlimited phone and email consultations and a minimum of 10 hrs in person. If a bride has hired me just to find her a dress, I will do what it takes to find her the dress.
I will always tailor the package to the specific needs of the couple; I want everything about their wedding day to be better than what they imagined.
How do you help couples customize their wedding?
Once I understand their vision, I become the curator of their wedding day. I will take all of the ideas a couple might have and edit them into an event like no other. Most people have never planned a wedding and don’t know where to start, whereas, I have experience planning many, an eye for detail and long list of contacts that specialize in creating anything a bride or groom might wish for.
What is one interesting fact about your services?
One interesting fact about my services is that I styled brides on a national scale. As a Fashion Director on season two of W Network’s Say Yes to the Dress Canada, you can pull up past episodes and see me at work. So I have a great knowledge of trends and have worked with every type of bride.
What do you have planned for the future?
I have many weddings in my future! I would love to style brides internationally but we will have to wait and see.
How many people can you accommodate? (i.e bridal party makeup)
As a hairstylist I can accommodate almost any number. I have a second stylist that works with me and we work very well together.
What makes your services unique?
There are not a lot of people that have the hands-on experience that I do in so many aspects of a wedding. I understand the hairstyles, fashion, design and the logistics that need to all come together for a flawless event.
How long has this business been a part of the community?
I have been in the hair industry for over 15 years and weddings for 4 years.
Who would be the best person to contact if a couple wants to book your services?
Tyrel Abbott

You look at this couple’s smile and the only thought that pops into your head is: “You are the first and the last thing on my mind each and every day”. That is what I saw throughout the 3 day wedding of Adam & Ekta. Their beautiful wedding was a combination of a Hindu Traditional Ceremony and Western wedding. The traditional Hindu ceremony was a combination of beautiful traditions with deep meaning associated with each tradition. The western wedding on the other hand was a simple yet beautiful ceremony that was held with the couple’s friend and family witnessing their union into one family.

I photographed Adam & Ekta at the Muttart Conservatory for their engagement session a few weeks ago. You can read the story of this cute couple and see their engagement photo right here: Bond’s Engagement Session.
This is the first day we photographed the bride. The tradition is called Mehndi (Henna). During this tradition the bride is tattooed with beautiful designs on her hand and her feet with Henna ink. The other female members of the family also get some designs made on this day. It is often followed with food, music and celebrations.
We photographed Ekta getting ready as she wore her beautiful Red Wedding dress and was then took her father’s blessings in the traditional hindu manner (ashirwad). Following that, Ekta’s mom fed her some sweet youghurt as part of another tradition when starting something new.
The Hindu Traditional Wedding ceremony was beautiful to photograph and had a lot of emotions tied to it. There was a focus on family values, respect and the idea of living together happily. It was a privilege to photograph such an intimate and beautiful moment in Ekta & Adam’s life!
One of the oldest traditions for Indian weddings is that of Jutta Chupai (Hiding the shoe). The bridesmaid hid the groom’s shoe who then had to pay a hefty amount to get it back from them. It was a joyous occasion and Adam did not put up much of struggle before the terms of the agreement were settled. Following the Jutta chupai, Mira (Ekta’s sister) and Adam had a moment of sibling love and it was adorable to photograph!
This was by far one of the most emotional things I have photographed. After receiving blessings from all of the members of the Bride’s family, Ekta had to say good bye to her old house and family as she joined Adam in a new life. It was full of tears of joy and sadness. Joy at the start of a beautiful adventure and sadness for the departure from her family.
You know handsome groomsmen? Well I know some and they are right here in these photos. It was a very cool edition when Adam’s brother Dallas (the bestman) had a set of Japenese swords… Like wow…
These are some of the photographs from the bride getting ready. She looked absolutely stunning in that white dress! In the meantime a very beautiful maid of honor helped her get ready!
The Western Wedding ceremony was held at the Royal Glenora Club. It was a beautiful and emotional ceremony. It had a rock ceremony as well where all the guests and loved ones wished happiness upon the lovely couple.
Following the ceremony, we went out to the legislature grounds for some amazing portraits of this lovely couple!
I pride myself in my ability to create artwork for the couples I photograph and this couple made it very easy! They looked absolutely beautiful together at their wedding at Royal Glenora Club edmonton.
We were so fortunate to be a part Adam & Ekta’s wedding. It was an absolute honor to be a part of their day!

Monika & Anthony decided to tie the knot on the 10th of October 2015. Their wedding was held at the Calgary’s Wedding Pavilion & Carriage House Inn. I was fortunate enough to be a part of their wedding day in collaboration with JM Photography. These are the photographs from their wedding and showcase what a beautiful ceremony it was!
Monika did most of her bridal prep at the Calgary Wedding Pavillion where the other bridesmaids assisted her. We got some photos of the dress being put on, some detail shots of the jewellery as well as some photos of the beautiful venue itself.
Wedding ceremonies represent not only the personality of the couple but also how they envision their lives ahead. Monika & Anthony’s ceremony was not only beautiful but it took place in the stunning Wedding Pavillion. It featured beautiful chandeliers and an amazing array of windows along the walls. Monika entered gracefully via the gorgeous staircase. This led to a magnificent ceremony which was followed by some family portraits and creative formals.
Following the beautiful ceremony, we went down to the Fish Creek Park in Calgary to photograph the bridal party. During the formals, the guys had a lot of fun with the groom where they picked him up at one point in time.
We found a beautiful clearing in the woods that was lined by birch trees. It created a fantastic backdrop for these formals that you can see below:
We also ran into a generous individual who let us borrow his bike for some amazing photos!
Following the formals we travelled down to the Carriage House Inn in Calgary. This venue was equally beautiful if not more than the Calgary Wedding Pavilion. The wedding reception was themed around a rustic look that was well complemented by the wooden decorations.
Bride and groom entered to a jubilant crowd that cheered them on periodically during dinner (thus leading to kisses). During the dinner, there were some tearful speeches followed by the classic shoe game.
A gorgeous three-tiered cake was created by the venue. You can see that it was not only beautiful but delicious.
It was a great and beautiful day and I was honoured to spend it with this wonderful couple. Want to share the Box Cube Photography experience? Contact Me today to book your free consultation.

In order to expand my technical skills and to have some fun, I decided it was time to collaborate with some of the other people in the local photography community. This is where I went on to Model Mayhem and got in touch with Katie!
I had no idea what I was getting into….
We planned out the shoot with some vague guidelines and thoughts along the idea of: modelling, posing, Sue Bryce etc. We had a lot of keywords floating around but no clear idea on what we wanted to do really. The location we decide upon was the Terwiliger Dog Park near Rabbit Hills, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We rolled into the park around 5 PM and started walking towards this “cool” spot which Katie had been to earlier. Let me tell you, it was quite a walk!
Anyway. Following that we started setting up the shoot and in rolled the wind. The wind sent one of the flashes crashing down with the umbrella and I decided I will go “all natural light” for this shoot (personally I LOVVVEEEE using flashes!).
We setup to near this winding path and we got these really cool images! :
Following the path, we went further down the rabbit hole (you get the reference? If not you need to read some books my friend). We found this alcove and then got the following cool iamges:
As you can see, I went a little ham on the editing side of things here but that happens sometimes when you are distracted….
As I had mentioned earlier, I had no idea what I had gotten myself into… Well what I meant by that was not only did I get a chance to work with this awesome model but I made a friend who shared my love of books and was an awesome gardener as well. She led me further along these tracks and finally to this ravine that touch the river! Oh boy that was perfect timing since we caught the sunset!
Here are the images from that spot!
Finally we started going back and just got these final few images!
Well anyway since you made it to these last few sentences, it means you are genuinely interested in what I had to write. Want to find out more?
Here just sign up for this email list! I promise no spamming just free goodies and some cool images every week or so!

Stephen Robinson is an awesome awesome individual who decided he wanted to learn 52 skills over 52 weeks. He started this project never really expecting the response he saw from it. He has so far been featured on CTV (Canadian National Television Chanel) as well as on other media channels. You just need to see the videos he makes to believe what he is capable of.
Having met him at eHub at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada I got inspired to learn new skills myself. He recently told me that he will be doing the final 52nd Skill soon which will draw an end to the first session of 52 skillz. In order to commemorate the awesome ideas he has had and the final 52nd Skill we decided to collaborate to setup a cool photoshoot. I got a chance to have a look at the last skill (its a secret so don’t ask me to divulge) and very honestly it is one of the best things I have seen so far!
Its ridiculous in its complexity and execution. Its beyond something I had envisioned for sure!
Check out the fun video we had a chance to make from our shoot on his friend’s Vegreville farm:
(PS why is Vegreville so cold!!)
We got to play with Smoke Grenade (colored) and let me tell you they are beyond awesome to play with!
I am so looking forward to other shoots with these babies!
