Their Story!

Here is a link to the couple’s engagement session:

Andy Getting Ready

Andy got ready at his home. His jacket was personalized to reflect the wedding date under the collar. What a neat idea! The boys matched their suits and went with a classic dark and light blue. Perfectly matched with the bridal party’s theme of purples!

Ashley Getting Ready

Ashley chose a tiara to go with her beautiful wedding dress. While she got ready, we took some photos of the tiny details like her bag that looks like a number plate, the ring, bouquet, and the elegant shoes to complete the look.

THEIR CEREMONY AT ASHLEY’S PARENTS HOME, EDMONTON

In Lebanese traditional weddings, the wedding party first meets at the bride’s home, the groom arrives amid lots of singing and dancing. This is exactly what happened with Ashley and Andy. Andy arrived to lots of cheering to meet and receive his beautiful bride. There were some speeches and phenomenal Lebanese food to go along with the festivities. This was followed by some family photos at the couple’s home and some at a beautiful park nearby!

FAMILY PHOTOS AT THE COUNTRY LODGE

We went to St. Albert Botanic Park for some of the family photos and creative formals with the bride and groom. It was a perfect summer day for a wedding and we couldn’t have asked for better weather.

CREATIVE FORMALS AT ST. ALBERT BOTANIC PARK

We stayed at the St. Alberta Botanic park for the creative formals (photos with the bride, groom, and bridal party). The green backdrop combined with a sunny day made the photos beautiful! The guys blew us away with a superhero pose (blew us away, get it?)

We took some photos with the bridal party followed by some more intimate moments between the bride and groom.

THE RECEPTION AT THE COUNTRY LODGE, EDMONTON

The reception was a party we all want to be part of. The whole family led a traditional dance Dabke, a folk dance performed at Lebanese weddings to mark the joyous occasion! It looked super fun and complex to me but I still had a great time taking photos. Pack comfortable shoes for this one, you’ll be on your feet for a while!
The whole day was a glam affair. You can’t miss the smoke in their reception photos or the stunning venue and Zaffe drummers to make it a party! Keeping with the tradition, they also had fireworks on their special day. This was one party everyone wanted to go to!

It was amazing to work with Ashley & Andy on their wedding day and we are honored to have been a part of their story! You can check out the rest of our work on our blog.

Leina & Ajay’s Wedding in Edmonton Street Car

A Story Book Ending! Literally!

“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise,
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints -I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! -and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.” –
Hafiz

The Wedding Slideshow

Above is the beautiful Wedding Slideshow that we created for Leina & Ajay. It was created from a selection of photos that tell the story of the couple’s wedding day.

Their Story!

Here is a link to the couple’s engagement session:

Ajay Getting Ready at the Varscona Hotel, Edmonton

We started the day off with some getting ready photos of Ajay in the morning with his groomsmen! We started off with some photos of details like Ajay’s jacket, the rings and his shoes. Then we get an adorable photo of Ajay as he opened a gift Leina had given to him for the wedding: a pen with Ajay’s name on it! The Varscona Hotel is an awesome location as we had some awesome window light for the photos combined with classic furniture.

Leina Getting Ready at the Varscona Hotel, Edmonton

After photographing Ajay, we went to Leina’s room within the same hotel and started with some of her details including her shoes, jewelery and her dress. Leina’s bridesmaids (Hillary & Madhu) happen to be my (Sharyar) former classmates and it was awesome seeing them again after years. They had both flown in to attend Leina’s wedding and were wonderful bridesmaid. We also photographed a first look for Leina and her dad where her dad saw Leina in the dress for the first time. It was a beautiful and emotional moment <3

Ceremony in the Edmonton Street Car

There is some magic to Ajay and Leina’s story. Ajay literally wrote a book about their story and this is just cheery on the top. Ajay and Leina decided to get married on the iconic Edmonton Street Car. If you want to read more about the Edmonton Street Car and this awesome venue, check out our blog post about it here!

The wedding ceremony was officiated by Julie Tkachuk. It was a beautiful ceremony that included happy tears and smile in abundance. Even I cried at one point… Seeing two of my friends get married was emotional!

Formals in the Storm! And Nuggets 😀

After the ceremony, we stopped at the Edmonton Street Car barn where we took some family photos for the couple. After that, we started doing formal photos and by this point, some storm clouds had rolled in. There was also a tornado advisory at that point so it was  weeee bit windy. It started raining heavily and we created this photo!

wedding-in-edmonton-street-car-edmonton-wedding-photographer-box-cube-photography

At this point, Amanda, my wonderful second shooter had to drag me and the couple so the hail wouldn’t kill us! Thanks Amanda!

Well, I couldn’t really give up so we went and enjoyed some McDonald’s and took some more photos there that you can see below. I wouldn’t be surpised if more couples want to use McDonalds as a location for the wedding photos after these 😀

Reception at the Faculty Club

Leina & Ajay held their reception the next day at the Faculty club where they were joined by their friends and family. The faculty club was exactly the right venue as the University of Alberta was where their journey began years ago. There was an awesome choregraphed first dance followed by tearful (happy) father daughter dance. I did end up dragging the couple outside to do some sunset photos and I am so happy that they trusted me even with all the mosquitos biting us!

Oh and here is a selfie of us from the engagement session!

I am so excited to share these images and I am so happy for Leina and Ajay!!

Foster Waterfall Engagement Session in Alberta, Canada

Miranda & Jessie’s Waterfall Engagement Session!

A sunrise, waterfall, and smoke bombs. What else do you need?

“I want to see you. Know your voice. Recognize you when you first come ’round the corner. Sense your scent when I come into a room you’ve just left. Know the lift of your heel, the glide of your foot. Become familiar with the way you purse your lips then let them part, just the slightest bit, when I lean in to your space and kiss you. I want to know the joy of how you whisper ‘more.’” – unknown

The Engagement Slideshow

Above is the Engagement Slideshow that I created for the Miranda & Jessie from their engagement photos.

THE ENGAGEMENT RING AND HOW THEY MET

Miranda & Jessie met as children since one of Miranda’s friend’s brother was friends with Jessie. Their love story did not start then though! It starts 10 years later when Miranda & Jessie met again at Blue on Whyte. The reconnected and knew that they had something more than friendship going for them. Two years later, Jessie went down on one knee and asked Miranda to marry him! He also ensured a photographer was there to document the moment!

They are both waterfall chasers and as such, we had to photograph their engagement session at a waterfall! We went to Crescent Falls by Rocky Mountain house and started bright and early right around sunrise. We spent almost the entire morning walking around the beautiful landscape and getting some gorgeous photos of the couple. Miranda wore a beautiful black gown and brought along smoke grenades! Add them together and we had magic!

My partner, Momina was super helpful during the session as she ran around popping the smoke grenade to create the cool smoke clouds you see in the photos below.

Eventually, we hiked down to the waterfall itself where a cold spray of water greeted us. This did nothing to deter this insane couple (in a good way).

Love in all its beauty!

“Life is full of choices, Loving you isn’t one of them – I have no control over that.” – Unknown

I am honored that MJ & Shaneen chose me to photograph their love and their beautiful wedding day! The wedding was a beautiful ceremony by the side of the North Sasketchwan River. The happy couple tied a knot with all of their friends and family surrounding them. Their vows were full of heart-felt stories that made everyone cry! MJ actually sang a song as part of her vows (“I wanna grow old with you” by Adam Sandler”). And last but not least, Theodore, the couple’s adorable dog joined us as the ring-bearer for the ceremony!

The Lea’s Fall Wedding in Edmonton

The Lea’s Fall Wedding in Edmonton

The Wedding Slideshow

Above is the beautiful Wedding Slideshow that came with Nathan & Mackenzie’s wedding. It was created from a selection of photos that tell the story of the couple’s wedding day.

NATHAN GETTING READY IN STYLE

The wedding truly begins with preparations and the magic is in the details. Our day began at The Best Western Plus Fort Saskatchewan Inn & Suites. With cool axes with his name, the coordinating boutonnière and cufflinks, and the perfect shoes to compliment his outfit, the groom didn’t take any chances for his big day. Nathan’s dad also gave us #dadgoals with their heartfelt picture together. The groomsmen pulled all stops to showcase their support too! With matching axes and coordinated outfits, they made a great party!

MACKENZIE GETTING READY TO IMPRESS

The preparations showed throughout the day, with a dashing ring bearer who meant business and props for making a special announcement.
Mackenzie got ready at a rustic house near the wedding venue. We got some pictures of the bride and her mom sharing some cute moments. She rocked her tattoos and really let her personality shine through. What is more badass than being a work of art on your big day?

THEIR CEREMONY IN A UNIQUE LOCATION

The ceremony took place in an unusual off-path location near a highway. The details really added to the day. From their furry friend Misha to the little surprise they had for the wedding guests. The rings were escorted by an efficient young man who took his job very seriously. Nathan and Mackenzie said their vows in standing at a rustic setting with a really cool compass, some buckets full of flowers and eyes full of love!
We love food. Apparently these two do too! Instead of having a cake, they had a donut tower by The Italian Bakery. You heard it right. Not only were they pretty as a bunch but also delicious!

FAMILY PHOTOS

We were able to capture the warmth and love that the whole family had for these two and we’re so glad we did! We recognise that family is an important part of their happiness so it’s only appropriate to save those memories right at the location of the ceremony! We are sure they will always look back on these with fondness.

CREATIVE FORMALS TO CHERISH

The day was perfect for taking some beautifully lit photos. One of our favourite shots is the one with Mackenzie on a bench and Nathan pecking her cheek. It truly reminds one of a storybook romance.
Have you ever wondered what a ‘perfect ending’ looks like?
It looks like all those gooey eyes that give us serious wedding fever, but also some truly special moments where it’s just the two of them. The bridal party helped make the pictures so much cuter! We are just glad to have been there to capture it all!

THE RECEPTION

Some ceremonies truly turn out to perfectly. This was one of them. But the reception topped the list for the most fun event! Nathan and Mackenzie used cute props to announce that they are expecting a baby! Not surprisingly, the audience got really emotional. All that happiness in one room was truly spectacular to witness. So we got to do some pre-baby photos which the couple showed in a slideshow at the wedding! The audience oohed and aahed at some really heartfelt toasts and many tears and laughs were shared.
Nathan and Mackenzie started the part with a first dance and then everyone truly took it off! The DJ kept the party rocking and the groomsmen wowed with some fantastic moves. The bride and groom also came for one last showdown too!
We were also able to capture the classic moments to catch the flying bouquet as Mackenzie tossed it.

It was amazing to work with Mackenzie and Nathan on their wedding day and we are honored to have been a part of their story! You can check out the rest of our work on our blog.

The Wedding Slideshow

Above is the beautiful Wedding Slideshow that came with Ashley & Cody’s wedding. It was created from a selection of photos that tell the story of the couple’s wedding day.

Cody Getting Ready

The day began with the groom getting ready for his big day at the Mystic Spring Chalet and Hot Pools. We were able to get some really cool shots of the groom and groomsmen outside as well. The guys really knew how to have fun and were ready with their cigars to rock the photos. Just check out those funky socks!
Thankfully the weather was in our favour and we got lots of good lighting and memorable pictures! Our favorite is the one where they guys show off their creative socks! Such a cute way to add some colors.

Ashley Getting Ready

Ashley’s bridesmaids shared a unique bond with her from their ukrainian dance lessons. At the Solero Resort and Spa, no eye was left dry. he bride was all set to have everyone bawling at her photo session. Ashley had a heartfelt letter for her mother in law, they shared a happy tears moment after which Ashley proceeded to make others emotional with personal gifts.
The room Ashley got ready in was a stunning place to be. We specially love the picture with her dress! We got some beautiful pictures and captured some of those heartwarming moments.

THEIR CEREMONY AT THE RUNDLEVIEW PARK, CANMORE

The wedding took place in a picturesque venue surrounded by mountains, the weather was really nice and we were able to get some scenic shots of the couple. We have to admit, the people in this wedding had so much fun! Our favorite picture is the high five the groom gets on his way. With the gorgeous mountains in the back, the pictures turned out a dream!
If you thought weddings couldn’t possibly be more emotional, Ashley and Cody also paid tribute to their roots and the starting of their new life by planting a sapling together with dirt from their Parents’ houses which they will plant in their new home.

CREATIVE FORMALS AT TWO JACKS LAKE, BANFF

The location for creative formals was the Two Jacks Lake and there couldn’t be a better location! The waters were crystal clear blue that added to the beautiful pictures, the mountains were also the perfect backdrop as the groomsmen pretended to throw Cody into the water (so much fun!). Ashley braved the crazy winds and stunned with some gorgeous pictures by herself and we also got some pictures of as well as the couple show stopping together in others!

THE RECEPTION AT CORNERSTONE THEATRE, CANMORE

The reception took place in a theatre turned wedding venue, with its rustic lighting and wood panelling added just the right character to the day. Ashley and Cody enjoyed a multi course family style dinner with their loved ones provided by the venue, as well as a DJ who rocked the show and dance performances that wowed us all!
We weren’t kidding about the fun part, because these guys had Ski Shots on their reception! And they did it with some really cool grandparents!
Apart from the fun, the reception gae us all the feels with heartfelt toasts from family that made everyone a bit teary-eyed.

It was amazing to work with Ashley & Cody on their wedding day and we are honored to have been a part of their story! You can check out the rest of our work on our blog.

The Wedding Slideshow

Above is the beautiful Wedding Slideshow that came with Rhonda and Gordon’s wedding. It was created from a selection of photos that tell the story of the couple’s wedding day.

Gordon Getting Ready

Our day began at Gordon’s house, amongst friends and with some truly delicious coffee (much called for at 6 am in the morning!). Gordon was surrounded by groomsmen and made use of his much cherished coffee maker for a wake up call. The young men were a striking sight in their blue coats ready to support their friend on his special day. The color combo of classic blue and grey added a nice contrast to the pictures and a coffee toast ended the dress up session.

Rhonda Getting Ready

Rhonda was to be found at her parent’s place preparing for the big day and she chose the traditional red dress for the first half of the day. She looked stunning!
The groom had to pay his dues to see the lovely bride. According to chinese tradition, the groom must earn the first sight. At the door, the men found their way blocked by determined bridesmaids refusing to “surrender” the bride. While they negotiated they enjoyed some lemonade, chicken and after sufficient hong bao, the groom was let in.

Rhonda was escorted by her dad and she along with Gordon then took part in the tea ceremony. Both served tea to the bride’s parents as an expression of respect. They did the same at the groom’s house where Gordon’s dad impressed with his culinary skills and the family enjoyed a lovely meal together before the ceremony.

THEIR CEREMONY AT THE ALBERTA ART GALLERY , EDMONTON

For a love like art, what better place to exhibit than the gallery?
The ceremony took place in The Theatre at the Alberta Art Gallery. Simple and elegant, it made for the perfect setting to enjoy traditional games and cherished moments with loved ones. The wedding involved a really fun game with shoes and a competition between the bride and groom. Both had to answer questions about each other and the crowd had a really good time!
It was a beautiful ceremony and the love was everywhere. We were just glad we caught some on camera!

CREATIVE FORMALS AT ALBERTA ART GALLERY

The location is as unique as the couple themselves. With its long windows and outstanding architecture, we were able to get some truly special photos. We also took some gorgeous shots on the roof of the gallery, with perfect lightning and the right weather, they turned out stunning! Talk about putting the love on top!

THE RECEPTION AT BEIJING BEIJING RESTAURANT

The reception was held in a cute, family style restaurant. It was intimate, simple and just perfect. There the couple wowed everyone with the classic ‘I Do’ by 98 degrees in a sweet first dance. The father daughter dance left everyone in tears (the good kind!). A small cake cutting ceremony followed, adding just the right sweetness to the day and a final dance wrapped up the ceremony perfectly.

It was amazing to work with Rhonda and Gordon on their wedding day and we are honored to have been a part of their story! You can check out the rest of our work on our blog.
