Hotel Wedding Venues in Calgary

The Fairmont Palliser

The Palliser has been part of Calgary since 1914, and the Crystal Ballroom, with its chandeliers, high ceilings, and grand staircase, is still one of the most elegant reception spaces in the city. It holds up to 350 guests, and with nine event rooms total, there’s a configuration that works for ceremonies of almost any size. If you’re considering this venue, book early as summer Saturdays here fill up 12 to 18 months in advance.

Hotel Arts

Hotel Arts is the right choice if you want something polished. The Spectrum Ballroom is one of the largest wedding reception spaces in the city, and the poolside ceremony area is genuinely one of a kind. The culinary team is consistently well-reviewed, and for couples who want the convenience of staying on-site and using the in-room spa services on the morning of the wedding, it covers everything under one roof.

Outdoor Wedding Venues in Calgary

Calgary Zoo

The Calgary Zoo wedding venues offer a truly unique experience. Exchange vows surrounded by lush gardens at Garden Island or celebrate in the ENMAX Conservatory with its tropical plants and butterflies. The Calgary Zoo provides not only beautiful natural settings but also unforgettable photo opportunities with botanical backdrops.

Reader Rock Garden

This hidden gem is perfect for small wedding venues in Calgary. Reader Rock Garden Calgary wedding ceremonies take place in a historic garden with cascading flowers, stone pathways, and intimate corners. The renovated Arts and Crafts-style house can accommodate smaller receptions, making it ideal for couples planning a more intimate celebration.

Spruce Meadows

For couples who dream of saying “I do” with mountain views in the background, Spruce Meadows offers breathtaking landscapes just minutes from the city. This equestrian facility features manicured gardens, charming indoor spaces, and picturesque surroundings that provide a romantic countryside feel.

Unique Wedding Venues in Calgary

The Commons Calgary

Housed in a restored warehouse, The Commons offers industrial chic with a touch of elegance. Exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and large windows create a stylish backdrop for modern couples. The versatile space can be transformed to match any wedding theme or style.

Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant

Located in Fish Creek Provincial Park, this historic ranch house combines rustic charm with elegant Victorian architecture. The surrounding gardens and park provide gorgeous settings for ceremonies, while the restaurant offers exceptional dining in a heritage building filled with character.

Calgary Brewery and Malting Co.

This revitalized historic brewery site offers industrial-chic spaces perfect for couples seeking a venue with character. Exposed brick, high ceilings, and unique architectural details make this an impressive setting for a wedding celebration with an urban edge.

The Brownstone YYC

The Brownstone was featured in Avenue Calgary’s January 2026 issue as one of the city’s top wedding venues. It’s a full-day exclusive rental, the venue is yours alone with over 7,000 sq ft of space across multiple rooms, plus a private patio overlooking the Calgary Tower. All-inclusive packages cover catering, bar, event coordination, and rentals, which takes a lot off your plate during planning. It works especially well for downtown couples who want something elevated without the formality of a hotel.

The Deane House

Built in 1906 in Inglewood, The Deane House sits right where the Elbow River meets the Bow, and its riverside location is one of the venue’s biggest draws. The outdoor garden tent accommodates larger receptions, while the indoor dining rooms are suited for more intimate gatherings. It operates as a farm-to-table restaurant year-round, so the food is a genuine highlight.

Teatro Ristorante

Teatro is housed in the 1911 Dominion Bank Building on Olympic Plaza, one of the most architecturally interesting buildings in downtown Calgary. The preserved original details give it a formal, candlelit atmosphere that suits couples who care more about cuisine and ambiance than square footage. The venue is well known for its refined menu and carefully curated wine selection.

River Cafe

River Cafe sits on Prince’s Island Park, right on the Bow River, which means you get a downtown address and a forested riverside setting at the same time. The menu focuses on local Alberta ingredients, and the outdoor terrace opens up the space on summer evenings. The surrounding parkland creates a softer, more natural backdrop for wedding photos.

Budget-Friendly Wedding Venues in Calgary

Burnside Community Hall

Seeking affordable wedding venues in Calgary? Burnside Community Hall offers a clean, customizable space that won’t break your budget. The large hall can be decorated to suit your vision, while the surrounding green spaces provide nice settings for outdoor ceremonies.

North Glenmore Park

For couples interested in outdoor wedding locations Calgary on a budget, North Glenmore Park’s picnic shelters can be booked for ceremonies. With views of the Glenmore Reservoir and mountains in the distance, this public park offers natural beauty at a fraction of the cost of private venues.

Scandinavian Centre

This versatile venue offers reasonable rates with ample space for both ceremonies and receptions. The Viking Room can accommodate larger guest lists, while the Heritage Room works well for more intimate gatherings, making it a flexible option for couples with different needs.

All-Inclusive Wedding Packages in Calgary

The Lake House

Overlooking Lake Bonavista, The Lake House offers all-inclusive wedding packages Calgary couples love. Their event coordinators handle everything from decor to dining, allowing you to enjoy your day without stress. The rustic-elegant interior with panoramic lake views creates a magical setting.

Azuridge Estate Hotel

Located just outside Calgary, Azuridge offers luxury all-inclusive wedding packages with stunning mountain views. Their wedding team coordinates every detail, from custom menus to decor arrangements. The estate’s unique architecture and beautiful surroundings make for unforgettable wedding photography.

Micro-Wedding and Elopement Venues in Calgary

Venue 308

Venue 308 is a downtown loft space known for its exposed brick, chandeliers, sheer white drapery, and abundant natural light. With capacity for up to 80 guests, you can comfortably host both your ceremony and reception in the same location. The central location, flexible layout, and polished interior also mean you won’t need much additional decor to make the space feel wedding-ready.

Skunkworks Distillery

Skunkworks Distillery is a strong option if you’re planning a smaller wedding with fewer guests. The working distillery blends industrial details with warm lighting and a relaxed atmosphere, giving the venue a distinct character without feeling overly formal. If you want something more intimate and less traditional than a typical banquet space, this venue offers a setting that feels personal and easy to make your own.

Tips for Choosing Your Calgary Wedding Venue

  1. Consider the season – Calgary’s weather can be unpredictable. Have a backup plan for outdoor venues or choose an indoor location during winter months.
  2. Visit multiple venues – Photos online don’t always capture the true feeling of a space. Schedule tours at your top choices.
  3. Check availability early – The best wedding venues in Calgary book up quickly, especially for summer weekends.
  4. Ask about vendor restrictions – Some venues require you to use their preferred vendors or charge fees for bringing in outside services.
  5. Consider transportation – Think about how easy it will be for guests to reach your venue, especially those from out of town.
  6. Review your contract carefully – Understand what’s included in your package and any additional costs you might incur.

Capturing Your Day

Whichever venue you choose, professional photography and videography will ensure those special moments are preserved forever. At Box Cube Photo and Epic Frame Studio, we specialize in Calgary wedding photography and Calgary wedding video services, capturing the unique character of each venue while focusing on the genuine moments that make your day special.

Conclusion

Calgary offers an impressive array of wedding venues to suit every style, budget, and vision. From luxurious hotels to rustic outdoor spaces, the city provides beautiful backdrops for your special day. We hope this guide helps you find the perfect venue for your Calgary wedding celebration!

A Fall Wedding Like No Other!

The Wedding Slideshow

Above is the beautiful wedding slideshow I created for Jon & Nicole. It was created from a selection of photos that tell the story of the couple’s wedding day.

Their Story!

Here is a link to the couple’s engagement session:

First Look at the Windermere Golf & Country Club

These two adorable humans asked me to photograph their wedding almost 1.5 years ago! Since then, I have thought about how I will make sure I tell their story and do it justice! I want to share some of the photos from their wedding day in this blog and I am so excited for the Jon & Nicole!

We started the day off with photographing Jon and some of his groomsmen at the Windermere Golf & Country Club, Edmonton. While we were waiting for Nicole to arrive, me and Alaa (my second photographer) scouted some of the locations around the golf club for the first look!

First Look: https://www.brides.com/story/brides-reveal-pros-cons-of-first-look-wedding-photos

Once Nicole arrived, the couple did their first look and let me tell, it was a tear jerker! I must have teared up a few times. It was a beautiful and emotional moment. Jon, being the softie, was tearing up right as Nicole was walking up to him.

Ceremony at the Windermere Golf & Country Club, Edmonton

The couple was joined by their family and loved ones for a beautiful ceremony. One of the most memorable moments for me from the ceremony was the vows where Jon told Nicole about how he started writing his vows the day he met Nicole. THIS WAS WHERE THE FLOOD GATES OPENED! The ceremony was led by Naomi Tichkowsky.

Family Photos at the Windermere Golf & Country Club

After the ceremony, we did family photos at the Golf Club and the beautiful grounds. We got some awesome photos of the Nicole & Jon with their parents, sibblings and friends.

Reception at the Golf Club

After the family photos, the couple had arranged a luncheon reception. During the reception, the had a few games, speeches and a personalized newspaper that announced their wedding. The reception was catered and organized by the excellent staff at the Windermere Golf & Country Club.

Creative Formals at the Alfred H. Savage Centre

One of my favorite parts of the wedding is the creative formals. Here, the wedding party and me go to a cool location and take some posed and life-style photos. For Nicole & Jon, we went to the Alfred H. Savage Centre. It has some awesome scenery around the area that made for fantastic fall backdrops. At one point during the photos, two random strangers showed up with electric scooters. Well, me being me, I asked to borrow the scooter for the couple and we go some adorable photos 😀

It was amazing to work with BRIDE & GROOM on their wedding day and we are honored to have been a part of their story! You can check out the rest of our work on our blog.

THEIR STORY!

Have you seen high school sweethearts? Well here is an adorable couple for your afternoon craving for romance <3.  This couple (Unnati & Dhrupad) met in high school via a mutual friend and have been dating each for the last 8 years.

After Dhrupad and Unnati ended up on a cruise together to Mexico last year, they decided it was time to tie the knot. Given that they both love food and life in general, the didn’t need much else in common. Also, one of them is an engineer and the other a nurse, Ill let you guess who is who.

I met this couple after they came across a photo I took for Tooba & Shahmeran’s Wedding. After our first meeting at a coffee shop, I knew I wanted to tell this couple’s story and I am glad I got the chance!

As Dhrupad hadn’t technically proposed to Unnati, I helped him setup the proposal by distracting Unnati during the photo shoot and letting Dhrupad sneak in behind her and get on his knee. It was adorable to see this happening!

We start the session at Muttart Conservatory and then as it got progressively colder, we move to El Cortez. El Cortez (Mexican Restaurant) happens to one of my favorite places for both food and photography so we were able to create some amazing artwork there!

Bitten by the travel bug, my dream now is to photograph love on every corner of the earth! If you are an adventurous soul who yearns to create some amazing photographs, contact me and we will have some cool adventures together! PS We will also have amazing coffee and food to plan out the adventure first!

Allison’s Portraits at Terwillegar Park, Edmonton Alberta | Edmonton Portrait Photographer

Allison’s Portraits at Terwillegar Park, Edmonton Alberta | Edmonton Portrait Photographer

Every now and then I get a chance to collaborate with some amazing individuals in my profession. These rare chances allow me to experiment with new gear, techniques and idea that I would otherwise never try on a client’s shoot. Given these opportunities are rare and far few to my liking, I savor them when they do arrive. Taking portraits at Terwillegar Park was such a opportunity and I ensured we produced some excellent results while having a fun afternoon!

One of these opportunities showed up on in the month of May when I collaborated with Riti Jain from Makeup & Hair by Riti and Allison Martin. Allison was the model while Riti provided us with her expertise of makeup and hair. We choose a wardrobe based around the idea of complimentary colors.

The location was the beautiful Terwillegar Park in Edmonton, Alberta. Its located near the Saskatchewan River but unfortunately we were unable to access the river due to rainy weather conditions.

Here are some of the fantastic images we were able to produce in our collaboration:

portaits-at-terwillegar-park-edmonton-allison-martin-

This particular image was one of the more signature shots that I am able to produce my clients. It utilizes a off camera flash in combination with a very shallow depth of field to produce the beautiful bokeh. The ‘bokeh’ refers to the creamy dissolved background behind the model that ensures that the model stands out from the background.

None of the images would be possible without the assistance of Sharon Martin, Allison’s (awesome) mother! She was not only a trooper in the poor weather conditions but actually managed to crack quite a few jokes (some at my expense!) to keep our spirits up!

Box Cube Photography Strives to provide Edmonton Brides with the best in wedding photography services. Our commitment to your big day goes beyond just the wedding itself, it extends into the wedding planning stage as well. Therefore, these collaborations provide us with significant background info regarding the vendors we recommend to you.

portaits-at-terwillegar-park-edmonton-allison-martin-232

Black and white portraits carry amazing potential due to the fact that they strip away the color that acts as almost a distraction thus leaving us with an uninhibited view of the raw image. The only thing that matters int he image is the subject, the emotion and the action visible within the photo. It is almost a synthesis of pure storytelling without the “fluff” of color. Thus, black and white portraits occupy a special place in my heart!

Behind the lens while capturing a Wedding

BTS-Sharyar-Box-Cube-Photography-4618

Behind The Scenes of Wedding Photography

Call me narcissistic but sometimes I do like talking just a little about myself. Today happens to be one of those days.

Most photographers never get a lot of face time in front of the camera. They are usually confined to the space behind the lens. Creating art pieces and capturing memories for their beloved clients. It appears this is not the case for me.

I was cruising through some of the mountainous catalogs of wedding photos from 2015 (above 30,000 photos holy moly!). I found some veryyy intersting photos of myself. They were mostly photos of my face in concentration as I took the shot or of me posing in weird ways to get the correct angle. I thought why not share these treasure troves with the rest of the world?

Have you ever wondered what you look like taking a photo with a DSLR? Well probably something like this:

BTS-Sharyar-Box-Cube-Photography-6482

This photo was taken by Jeremy Martel at the Fairmont MacDonal Hotel, Edmonton, Alberta during Zubair & Amara’s Wedding.

At other times when you are bending in weird poses to get the shot:

BTS-Sharyar-Box-Cube-Photography-4770

This shot was also taken by my second photographer Jeremy Martel as I leaned on the step of the Legislature Building in Edmonton, Alberta to get “the shot”.

Here are a couple of other cool ones! BTS-Sharyar-Box-Cube-Photography-4538 BTS-Sharyar-Box-Cube-Photography-6833 BTS-Sharyar-Box-Cube-Photography-5164

This is one of my absolute favorites:

BTS-Sharyar-Box-Cube-Photography-5361

This was an emotional moment when I shared Mark & Shamalla’s wedding reception slideshow with them. Following the slideshow, Shamalla started crying (happy tears!!) and hugged me (love it when I get hugs from my clients!). Thanks for the shot Jeremy!

BTS-Sharyar-Box-Cube-Photography-4618

So this is what I am up to on most of my Saturdays..

What about you? How do you look when photographing something? If you want we can totally go for coffee and a photo walk where I take photos of you while you take photos! I bet they would look awesome!

Give me a shout if you want to do that!!

Kharadi Reception Slideshow – Pakistani Wedding

I had a chance to meet Amara and Zubair earlier during the year to talk about their Pakistani wedding. Following the first meeting, I knew this would be an awesome wedding to photograph and these photos are proof! PS below is the link to their engagement session if you are wondering!

A gallery of all the images will be available later and you can check here to see if you are looking for particular images.

Wedding Reception Slideshow

None of our weddings would be complete if we did not do a same day wedding slideshow for our clients. This slideshow is made from the images taken during the ceremony and formals and presented on the day of the Wedding to the couple during the reception. It allows the beautiful couple, family and friends to enjoy some of the best photographs in a slideshow form which they can share with their loved ones.
