Bridal Session for the Banners in Edmonton, AB

Emma and Kent Banner – Reliving the dream day | Bridal Session Edmonton

Emma and Kent met in England approximately 13 years ago and knew they were destined together. Having traversed a journey together that spans across 9 years and the Atlantic ocean, they live currently in Edmonton, Canada. Emma currently is a photographer herself while Kent works for the Edmonton Polic Force. They are quite a badass couple in actions. They met on the police force in England. After being married for almost 6 years, Emma’s wedding dress didn’t see much use. Therefore, when I suggested that we organize a bridal session shoot, she leapt at that chance. Being the supportive husband, Kent also got on board with the idea of reliving the dream of their wedding. It was a tad colder than it was on their wedding day (Edmonton weather!!).

Emma and Kent’s New Home in Edmonton, AB

Emma and Kent Banner had decided to purchase an acreage on the outskirts of Edmonton is on top of some beautiful rolling hills! When we were discussing where the shoot should be done, our idea was to have some beautiful sunsets in the photos. We discussed a number of locations, all remote and pretty but slightly restricted. This is when Emma suggested we go to the couple’s new acreage that was still under construction. I thought this was a splendid idea once Emma showed me a photo of the average. I couldn’t have asked for a better location! Here is a quick shot of the location:

The Cold Stung but the Bridal Photos were Hot!

No quite literally, I had to use Hot Hands hand warmers in my pocket to keep my fingers from freezing off. I have no idea how Emma braved that cold -20 weather and posed for those photos. On the other hand, Kent and Emma had a lot of hot romance going which I felt kept them fairly warm! It also allowed me to create some amazingly cute photos! Here is a slideshow of some of those photos! As an Edmonton Wedding Photographer, these photos bring me so much pride!

At one point in the shoot, we were so frozen that even my camera stopped working and I had to warm it up in the car to get it working again haha!

I would be lying if I said that it was not cold on the day that I photographed this couple (but it was warm because of their love :P). We met at the Rundle Park in Edmonton, Alberta to take these photos for them. They were accompanied by Catherine’s son who assisted me with some of the shots. Thanks for that!

Catherine and Damien met me after reading my post on Facebook where I was looking for the couple to photograph for their engagement. After they told me their story, I knew I would be able to see a huge amount of love in their photos which I did as evidenced below. I am very excited to share these photos with the couple as they were nothing short of lovely to work with!

Their Story goes something like this:

Both Damien and Catherine like bikes! (Yay! I like bikes too, sadly I have no experience riding one). They met through a mutual friend and instantly hit it off! Damien currently serves with the army and takes pride in his work (and so does Catherine!).

I met Nikola and Scott after they saw my post on Facebook looking for newly engaged couples. We met at Block 1912 on Whyte Ave. I got to hear the story of Nikola and Scott; how they met, how they fell in love and how Scott proposed to Nikola. Having met 11 years ago in Wetaskiwin, Alberta (A beautiful riverside town near Edmonton), this couple decided it was time to marry in 2015. They are set to marry in 2016.

One of the best stories of the proposal that I have heard is their’s: Scott and Nikola have a pumpkin carving competition each year on Halloween. Last year, Scott carved “Marry me” into the pumpkin. It doesn’t get much simpler or better than this folks.

Both Nikola and Scott are oilers fans as is apparent from their jerseys. They also have a keen eye for beautiful spots around the town. One such spot was on top of a mountain overlooking a frozen lake while the sun was setting. It was pretty cold might I say. As an Edmonton Wedding Photographer, I knew what cold was like but the setting sun was fairly deceptive! Starting around 3:30, we took some photos over the hill top and followed that with a short break at a neighbours house to warm up (Thanks, Neighbour!!!).

After that little break is when the magic started happening, Nikola and Scott had gotten comfortable in front of the camera and the sun was casting a warm orange glow around them. It was like their love glowed around them (cheesy much?).

Andrea & Mark’s Engagement Session at Victoria Park Ice Rink in Edmonton

A cold, snowy but beautiful afternoon in Edmonton!

After having met Andrea and Mark in a cafe over coffee, I knew this session would be amazing. To say that the session went well would be quite an understatement. It was extremely cold that day and it was snowing heavily. Perfect conditions for some amazing snow photos!

This is their story and I am so glad I got to be a part of it!

After having met at the Ranch, Edmonton in 2013 during a party, Mark and Andrea decided there was something to explore beyond friendship here. They started dating shortly afterwards and did not attend many parties thereafter(not being party people themselves!). Being an adventurous couple, they went rock climbing and camping many times. On November 28th, 2015 Mark decided he wanted this beautiful woman to be a permanent part of his life and proposed to her in front of the Alberta Legislature. Andrea accepted and shortly after their engagement they met me and I got to hear this awesome love story. After hearing that both Mark and Andrea were expert ice skaters (Andrea is a figure skater!!), we decided an ice rink was the place to go! Mark and Andrea brought their Oiler’s Jerseys as well to show their love for their home team! Go Oilers!

We started off near the entrance of the Victoria Park in Edmonton and booted up to avoid the cold! That is when I started shooting away and saw the magic happen. Yes, Magic aka Love. Andrea and Mark were two bodies but one soul and their smiles and laughs were evidence of their love for each other! Look at these photos and tell me if it isn’t true?

Squirrel! Squirrel! Squirrel!

Well at one point I saw that the snowfall is extremely heavy around where Mark and Andrea were standing. It got me thinking, “How the hell is that possible?”. I look up and there is a squirrel moving the branches causes excess snowfall! Wow… Divine intervention?

Aren’t Engagement Rings Awesome?

Mark and Andrea love hockey and anything related to it. Therefore, their ring had to be hosted on a crow of a hockey puck as seen below!

Because Umbrella!

Now if there is snowfall, my brain defaults “Pretty pictureeesss!”. Mark and Andrea had a particular fascination with One Photo I took for Shahmeran & Tooba a year ago under a lit umbrella with snowfall happening around them. Well, we had to do that again!

In order to expand my technical skills and to have some fun, I decided it was time to collaborate with some of the other people in the local photography community. This is where I went on to Model Mayhem and got in touch with Katie!

I had no idea what I was getting into….

We planned out the shoot with some vague guidelines and thoughts along the idea of: modelling, posing, Sue Bryce etc. We had a lot of keywords floating around but no clear idea on what we wanted to do really. The location we decide upon was the Terwiliger Dog Park near Rabbit Hills, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We rolled into the park around 5 PM and started walking towards this “cool” spot which Katie had been to earlier. Let me tell you, it was quite a walk!

Anyway. Following that we started setting up the shoot and in rolled the wind. The wind sent one of the flashes crashing down with the umbrella and I decided I will go “all natural light” for this shoot (personally I LOVVVEEEE using flashes!).

We setup to near this winding path and we got these really cool images! :

Following the path, we went further down the rabbit hole (you get the reference? If not you need to read some books my friend). We found this alcove and then got the following cool iamges:

As you can see, I went a little ham on the editing side of things here but that happens sometimes when you are distracted….

As I had mentioned earlier, I had no idea what I had gotten myself into… Well what I meant by that was not only did I get a chance to work with this awesome model but I made a friend who shared my love of books and was an awesome gardener as well. She led me further along these tracks and finally to this ravine that touch the river! Oh boy that was perfect timing since we caught the sunset!

I was invited to photograph Zahra and Jawaad’s engagement ceremony. We had a chance to run away before it started and get some amazing photos done!

I recently called the couple in for the viewing session and I could not help but notice the cute chemistry going on in between them! It was awesome!

On the day of the engagement ceremony, we went out to this location near the black mud creek in Edmonton. We were actually in someone’s backyard for a while and didn’t realize until later… Well anyway we were not chased off by any dogs so all good :D.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Zahra and Jawad for their big day! We wish them a happy married life ahead!

Earnst Wedding Slideshow | Edmonton Wedding Photographers

On August 8th, 2015 Thomas and Agnes decided there was no time like today to tie the knot and become part of the same family. It was awesome. I was part of the wedding as usual being my awesome self taking photos. And holy crap did I get some beautiful photos of this couple and their big day! Like look at this slideshow and tell me it doesn’t make you cry when you see the bride tearing up during the vows? (If it doesn’t you are either heartless or your tear glands have dried up, Joking!)

Prior to this wedding I had a chat with my girlfriend where I had no idea where our relationship was going. After this wedding, I knew what I wanted. I know what you are thinking but it wasn’t that! I realized I loved photographing exactly these kinds of weddings: small, intimate, out in the nature, with a couple that has love so deep that every photo I took portrayed it in some form or another.

As humans we have a tendency to sit and watch things happen. Now I am not a videographer but I sure know how to put together a wicked slideshow. Here is one! for you to watch!

The Wedding slideshow shows some of the final images that will be provided to our clients in the form of printed products (Albums, Canvases etc). We also provide this beautiful slideshow to our clients to share with their loved ones!

Sneak Peaks from Gilani Wedding at Renaissance Hotel, Edmonton, Alberta

Sneak Peaks from Gilani Wedding Renaissance Hotel, Edmonton

Pakistani weddings are no small fare, they are long joyful celebrations of the merging of the lives of two individuals into a new family unit. They usually consist of three days of celebrations:

Mehndi: Also known as the henna ceremony where the bride has the henna put on her hands.
Baraat: The main event of the three-day wedding. This is where the bride joins the groom with her new family.
Waleema: The third day of celebrations where the bride and groom join their guests as a new family!

On July 20th Shahmeran and Tooba took one of the largest step forwards into their lives by marrying each other. This cute couple met at the University of Alberta while MCing together for an event for the Pakistani Students’ Association. Once Shahmeran saw Tooba going about giving her instructions about the event in her authoritative way, there was no stopping Shahmeran from falling head over heels in love with this girl. And that is where all the trouble started and led to this family being born! They are two of my best friends and it was a pleasure to be a part of their big day!
