Above is a slideshow featuring Damaris and Jeremy on their wedding day. We chose some of the highlights of their photos from their special day.

THEIR STORY

It is in the most unexpected moments we find our perfect person. Damaris and Jeremy met in their workplace. Jeremy gave Damaris a tour and found a connection! Their first date was coffee and board games which led us here, to their wedding. The wedding originally had to take place in a vineyard but they are on the front lines in the pandemic as healthcare workers, and choose a small ceremony in Edmonton.

 

DAMARIS GETTING READY AT THE WESTIN EDMONTON

I enjoyed taking photos of Damaris getting ready for her big day. She did her own makeup and chose a stunning dress for the ceremony. It was a small ceremony but the couple pulled off a regal look that is bound to be on everybody’s list!
Damaris looked like a princess and the dress paired very well with the venue and theme.

 

CEREMONY AT THE FAIRMONT HOTEL MACDONALD

Due to the pandemic, the couple decided on a small ceremony and the guests attended wearing masks. The ceremony was led by John Son. It took place on the beautiful patio of Fairmont Hotel, overlooking the Edmonton skyline. Damaris teared up during the vows and the guests followed! Despite a rain forecast we were lucky to witness a beautiful day. The couple sang a heartfelt prayer together for their perfect beginning. 

 

CREATIVE FORMALS AT THE FAIRMONT MACDONALD PATIO

The location is perfect for a summer wedding, and luckily the weather stayed perfect all day! The formals looked stunning both indoors and outdoors. The couple enjoys piano and them playing together is one of the cutest photos of the shoot! Coupled with how absolutely in love they are, the pictures turned out regal.  My favourite photo is of Damaris standing at the gates of the venue looking absolutely picturesque in white.

We took photos of Damaris and her mom sharing an emotional moment. I am so glad to be part of their special day and to capture the shared happiness. The families of the bride and groom looked just as stunning!

First Look at the Windermere Golf & Country Club

These two adorable humans asked me to photograph their wedding almost 1.5 years ago! Since then, I have thought about how I will make sure I tell their story and do it justice! I want to share some of the photos from their wedding day in this blog and I am so excited for the Jon & Nicole!

We started the day off with photographing Jon and some of his groomsmen at the Windermere Golf & Country Club, Edmonton. While we were waiting for Nicole to arrive, me and Alaa (my second photographer) scouted some of the locations around the golf club for the first look!

Once Nicole arrived, the couple did their first look and let me tell, it was a tear jerker! I must have teared up a few times. It was a beautiful and emotional moment. Jon, being the softie, was tearing up right as Nicole was walking up to him.

Ceremony at the Windermere Golf & Country Club, Edmonton

The couple was joined by their family and loved ones for a beautiful ceremony. One of the most memorable moments for me from the ceremony was the vows where Jon told Nicole about how he started writing his vows the day he met Nicole. THIS WAS WHERE THE FLOOD GATES OPENED! The ceremony was led by Naomi Tichkowsky.

Family Photos at the Windermere Golf & Country Club

After the ceremony, we did family photos at the Golf Club and the beautiful grounds. We got some awesome photos of the Nicole & Jon with their parents, sibblings and friends.

Reception at the Golf Club

After the family photos, the couple had arranged a luncheon reception. During the reception, the had a few games, speeches and a personalized newspaper that announced their wedding. The reception was catered and organized by the excellent staff at the Windermere Golf & Country Club.

Creative Formals at the Alfred H. Savage Centre

One of my favorite parts of the wedding is the creative formals. Here, the wedding party and me go to a cool location and take some posed and life-style photos. For Nicole & Jon, we went to the Alfred H. Savage Centre. It has some awesome scenery around the area that made for fantastic fall backdrops. At one point during the photos, two random strangers showed up with electric scooters. Well, me being me, I asked to borrow the scooter for the couple and we go some adorable photos 😀

The Manuel’s Engagement Session at Hawrelak Park, Edmonton

Ajay Getting Ready at the Varscona Hotel, Edmonton

We started the day off with some getting ready photos of Ajay in the morning with his groomsmen! We started off with some photos of details like Ajay’s jacket, the rings and his shoes. Then we get an adorable photo of Ajay as he opened a gift Leina had given to him for the wedding: a pen with Ajay’s name on it! The Varscona Hotel is an awesome location as we had some awesome window light for the photos combined with classic furniture.

After photographing Ajay, we went to Leina’s room within the same hotel and started with some of her details including her shoes, jewelery and her dress. Leina’s bridesmaids (Hillary & Madhu) happen to be my (Sharyar) former classmates and it was awesome seeing them again after years. They had both flown in to attend Leina’s wedding and were wonderful bridesmaid. We also photographed a first look for Leina and her dad where her dad saw Leina in the dress for the first time. It was a beautiful and emotional moment <3

Ceremony in the Edmonton Street Car

There is some magic to Ajay and Leina’s story. Ajay literally wrote a book about their story and this is just cheery on the top. Ajay and Leina decided to get married on the iconic Edmonton Street Car. If you want to read more about the Edmonton Street Car and this awesome venue, check out our blog post about it here!

The wedding ceremony was officiated by Julie Tkachuk. It was a beautiful ceremony that included happy tears and smile in abundance. Even I cried at one point… Seeing two of my friends get married was emotional!

Formals in the Storm! And Nuggets 😀

After the ceremony, we stopped at the Edmonton Street Car barn where we took some family photos for the couple. After that, we started doing formal photos and by this point, some storm clouds had rolled in. There was also a tornado advisory at that point so it was  weeee bit windy. It started raining heavily and we created this photo!

At this point, Amanda, my wonderful second shooter had to drag me and the couple so the hail wouldn’t kill us! Thanks Amanda!

Well, I couldn’t really give up so we went and enjoyed some McDonald’s and took some more photos there that you can see below. I wouldn’t be surpised if more couples want to use McDonalds as a location for the wedding photos after these 😀

Reception at the Faculty Club

Leina & Ajay held their reception the next day at the Faculty club where they were joined by their friends and family. The faculty club was exactly the right venue as the University of Alberta was where their journey began years ago. There was an awesome choregraphed first dance followed by tearful (happy) father daughter dance. I did end up dragging the couple outside to do some sunset photos and I am so happy that they trusted me even with all the mosquitos biting us!

Ceremony at the Whitewood Barn

Sarah and Ali’s wedding ceremony was at the gorgeous Whitewood Barn out in Millet, Alberta. The couple tied the knot with all of their loved ones watching. Their vows were emotional and led to quite a few tears (including me and Brenda, the officiant).

Following the ceremony, we took photos of the couple with their friends and family members on the venue grounds. After completeing family photos, we took the bridal party photos. This bridal party was hilarious as they wanted to try all of our nerdy ideas including a hulk punch to the ground and kamehameha!

Reception

Their reception was held inside the huge renovated barn at the same venue and it was absolutely beautiful. The decorations and the entire wedding day organization was so well put together. It was done by an excellent team of professionals from Cocktails and Details and the venue owners (Chris & Jeff).

Their reception was a beautiful combination of choreographed first dances and tear-jerker speeches from the bridesmaids and groomsmen. It ended with an open dance floor that was heartily supported by fantastic beats from Happy Wife Happy Life DJ!

Above is the Engagement Slideshow that I created for the Yusra & Shaheer from their engagement photos.

The Engagement Ring and How They Met

This is one of our favourite posts because their meet-cute story is so cute! And there are cookies?!
Good intentions are rewarded well! In Shaheer and Yusra’s case, it was each other. They found each other when volunteering at an event. Shaheer’s shift was ending and Yusra’s shift was starting, they spoke for a while. As life would have it, they ran into each other again at the Heritage festival. Amongst all those colors and on a bright day, Shaheer finally asked Yusra out.
For their first date, each picked 3 spots and decided on The Common. Shaheer surprised Yusra with homemade cookies (this is our favourite part) so we aren’t shocked that she was smitten. After their date, they went on to walk to the Victoria Promenade and spent the rest of their evening in the beautiful boulevard overlooking the city skyline.
At the end of the day, it is all about finding someone to enjoy life with and these two do! They both love La la Land, they go ceramic painting together and are super nerdy!
It’s no wonder Shaheer asked Yusra to marry him. He promised her forever with a classic round cut diamond ring. Minimalistic and special, the ring gave us all those ‘old love’ vibes.

The Engagement Session at The Promenade

It only made sense for us to revisit where it all began. We went back to The Promenade and there were cookies again. Shaheer and Yusra gave us all the right goals with their cute hugs and moments together. At some points, I felt like they didn’t even see me. The sunset gave the pictures a beautiful background and the light was perfect. We got shots that looked movie-like and shots that were simply them. It is truly magical when you find your best friend and I am so happy I got to do it for these two. Yusra has been a long time friend and I was super excited for the shoot!

There is something to be said for young love. That is why we write about it, sing about it, and cry over movies about it. Stephanie and Andrew met in 10th grade by adjacent lockers. Andrew took his girl to high school grad by asking her out with a scavenger hunt! How adventurous and fun (one more thing about that young love eh). She said yes to the dance and years later, Andrew asked Stephanie’s parents for their blessing. Stephanie had no clue when Andrew picked her up from work. He took her to Whitemud Park and played “Say Something” by A Great Big World. Listening to the story made our heart skip a beat. This was the song they danced to at their High School grad. While the song played, Andrew proposed to Stephanie on a bridge. Stephanie cried, Andrew cried and so did I.
They can eat a ton of Cake of a Thousand Layers and Halo Halo shaved ice.
They both love Brooklyn 99.
They are basically goals and I ship them hard.

The Engagement Session at the George F. Hustler Memorial Plaza

Did you know that there are over 200 different varieties of cherry blossoms? Just like love, there are so many kinds, yet all precious and beautiful. Everybody needs to see them up close at least once in their lifetime. Stephanie and Andrew are the lucky ones to have found love just as beautiful as the pretty blooms.
The engagement session took place at George F. Hustler Memorial Plaza near Muttart Conservatory. It was cherry blossom season and the grounds were a gorgeous canopy of pinks and greens. The sun shone bright and so did these two!
Cherry blossoms last only a week so there was a big crowd (I’d go again, it was picturesque!), we got some beautiful photos and these two gave us all the goals to aspire to!

Above is the beautiful Wedding Slideshow that came with Meredith & Matthew’s wedding. It was created from a selection of photos that tell the story of the couple’s wedding day.

THEIR CEREMONY AT THE HILLVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH, EDMONTON

The Math Wizard and the Language Genius said their vows at this beautiful venue. The pictures tell the story of a love so sweet that it needs no description. The moments these two shared and the simple glances we captured make the perfect wedding. Everything from Meredith’s walk down the aisle to their lovely vows was as sweet as could be.

CREATIVE FORMALS AT WHITEMUD CREEK PARK

We chose this venue because this is where Meredith said yes! The couple wanted to relive the magic of that moment and we got to capture it all again. After a steak dinner, the couple took a walk to the park where Matthew got down on one knee. Meredith immediately said yes and we love it all!
This location is perfect with its backdrop of beautiful trees, illuminated by on a gorgeous spring day and gorgeous colors it gave all the photos. We also love it because it symbolizes the couples’ love for the outdoors! Meredith and Matthew enjoy the outdoors and being goofy together!

THE RECEPTION AT WHITEMUD CREEK COMMUNITY CENTRE

Meredith’s dad mentioned that theirs was a family of language experts and Meredith found a math genius. He pondered over how smart their kids will be with those two talents combined! The speeches were so cute and so was the rest of the ceremony.
To keep the groom awake, one of the guests designed glasses for Meredith with math equations on them! How cool is that?
The bride and groom each had a calculator and a book by Jane Austen each. Every time someone asked a question the couple could raise either to answer. What a great personalized spin to the shoe game!
We had such a good time with this reception and the guests tried everything from push ups and pull ups to get the couple to kiss! We ended the night with a sparkler exit and everything turned out perfect just like these two.
