How did you get started?
I have always loved makeup and am very creative. About 7 years ago I was looking for a career change and wanted to pursue something that allowed me to combine my love for helping people feel amazing about themselves with my artistic skills. I decided to enroll in the Eveline Charles Academy here in Edmonton, and my career as a makeup artist took off shortly after completing my training.
Tell me about your favorite wedding last season.
A dear friend of mine hired me to do makeup for her wedding last year, and the experience was so wonderful. I felt like part of the family, and it was really special to be able to treat her to an amazing experience on one of the most memorable days of her life. Her daughters were part of the wedding party, and I loved doing their makeup and seeing the different generations of her family so happy and beautiful on her big day.
How far out should a bride pay a deposit to secure your services for her wedding day?
The sooner the better! Wedding vendors book up quickly and it’s better to act fast so you can ensure that your first choice is available for such an important day. Six months in advance is usually perfect, although shorter notice can sometimes be accommodated if the date hasn’t already been booked for another wedding.
What is included when a couple books your services for their wedding?
I offer wedding makeup services and trial makeup. The trial is very important so that we can meet and discuss the look the Bride would like for her wedding day, as well as assess skin condition and any special needs or requests that she may have. My wedding services include travel fees within the Edmonton area, and I will come to you at the location of your convenience to beautify you and your wedding party.
The makeup is a full application including skincare, and I bring my own complete professional kit full of high end, luxury cosmetics to work from. False lashes are available for a small additional fee, and there is a choice of natural looking styles or full and glamorous 3D mink lashes.
How do you help couples customize their wedding?
I am always happy to work with my clients to design a look that is true to their personal style while also complementing the various elements of their wedding.
What is one interesting fact about your services?
I take pride in the perfection of my work and my attention to detail, but it is equally important to me to create a relaxing, uplifting atmosphere that celebrates your natural beauty and will leave you feeling like a million dollars.
What do you have planned for the future?
The next step with my makeup business will be hiring a team of makeup artists so that I can supply makeup services on a professional basis to even more people and pass on the knowledge and dedication to amazing work that I’ve developed over the last seven years.
How many people can you accommodate? (i.e bridal party makeup)
I can easily accommodate 8-10 makeup clients in a booking and will bring in a secondary makeup artist to help get everyone’s looks completed in time.
What makes your services unique?
When I am not applying makeup, I love to paint using melted wax, acrylic, oil paints, and watercolor. I love creating and I feel that this love of the arts also shows in the rich and visually stunning looks featured in my portfolio. In addition to being an artist, I am actually a Reiki Teacher and have been told that my calming, supportive and nurturing energy is definitely felt and appreciated by my makeup clients.
