On 29th August 2015, Rita and Darlene became one family! They got married. And it was a beautiful ceremony! Here are some of the photos from yesterday! We were so glad to be a part of their big day!

Reception Slideshow

None of our weddings would be complete if we did not do a same day wedding slideshow for our clients. This slideshow is made from the images taken during the ceremony and formals and presented on the day of the Wedding to the couple during the reception. It allows the beautiful couple, family and friends to enjoy some of the best photographs in a classic black and white theme while the photos are getting edited.

Lisa Marie Couture – Mistress of the Storm – Edmonton Portrait Photographer

“Mistress of the Storm” comes from the book by Melanie Walsh. It goes over the journey of a boat and its crew through a storm as the name implies. That gave me the inspiration to create this portrait concept.

There is nothing quite like taking an environmental portrait with an excellent team working with you. This was such an opportunity. Wizard lake provided us with the perfect blend of water and storm to create this amazing imagery. Environmental portraits represent some of the most challenging portraits that can be achieved as they are meant as a mix of both the subject and the environment in a complex manner that is not only complementary but almost symbiotic.

I collaborated with Lisa Marie couture to product this concept that I call “Mistress of the Storm”. Lisa Marie is a dress designer who makes these fabulous dresses for her clients (Brides).

In order to create this images Yara Sayegh assisted me! She helped us get setup for the shoot and then followed up with providing logistic support by making sure that my equipment didn’t blow away due to the severe storm prevalent at that time. For that I am grateful!

One of the funniest(and cute) thing that happened during the shoot was the fact that Jane was extremely cold and her friend and her Husband (Oleg) decided to make a human sandwich to warm her up! One of the photos is shown below of “the human sandwich”.

John Strauss Ball

The John Strauss Ball is a wonderful and elegant event that happens in Edmonton every year. It is a night of dance, delicious multi-course dinner, tuxedos and ball gowns. The event takes place in February every year and is essentially a fund raiser for “John Strauss Foundation Music Awards for Advanced Study of Music in Austria”. This scholarship gives music students a chance to travel to Austria to learn the depths and beauty of classical music. I was invited by Jane Bogatrevich to photograph the participants in this ball who wore floor length gowns, tuxedos and did amazing ball dance moves.

Chateau Lacombe hotel

This hotel is one of the older hotels within the City of Edmonton. It is located in the heart of the city with a beautiful view of the Sasketchwan River. It also features a revolving restaurant, La Ronde, which offers an amazing view of the city. This location is idea for the John Strauss ball due to its large Ballroom where the dance takes place. The hotel has an elegant and classic decor with chandeliers and wooden panels. This worked extremely well for the photographs we created from this event.

The professional headshot (also known as head shot)is one of the most recognized and well known type of photograph. It has been a classic tool for marketing yourself in the entertainment industry. It is often used by actors, models and other similar professionals to market themselves. They are also used by other professionals such as lawyers, dentists, doctors etc for their websites and other marketing materials.

Rizwan – An Aspiring Artist

Rizwan is an aspiring artist who is figuring out his acting career. He is also a comedian who works with local establishments to entertain patrons. He contacted me to create some headshots for him. Those headshots were then used for his portfolio and social media channels as well. I initially met this young artist at the local business development space called eHub. This place is a meeting space for young entrepreneurs like me and Rizwan.

A black and white photo has a charm that transcends ages and as such I choose to begin a project that was based around old themed black and white grainy photos.

Black and white photography is something that has fascinated and entrapped the best of minds and yet the charm never wears off. Amy Law, an Edmonton-based model helped me develop this concept and I had a wonderful time working with her. Her skills surpasses her age! Edmonton Wedding Photographers | Brendan Proposes to Alyssa

If fairy tales come true, this was one of them.

This young fellow contacted me through my email and said to me “If you can take pictures today of a proposal outside, this contract is your’s”.
Now keep in mind this was at the start of an Edmonton Winter and it was coooold (-20 that day). I said yes I will do it, because I knew it would give me a chance to witness something wonderful and it did as you will see below!

So Brendan drives me down to the location and tells me that His to-be-fiance did not know about this and that I should stay hidden and take picture incognito, so I went into my ninja mode and hid in the trees pretending to take pictures of the nature out in the cold.

So here I waited like a ninja for a solid twenty minutes before the couple arrived.
They started walking towards a pretty bridge I had told Brendan to use as the location for the proposal.

And here I was sitting in the foliage snapping pictures….

They reached the bridge and started talking randomly… as couples do when they take walk together with their cute dog!

Then he says something funny, and she starts laughing… Oh Btw my toes were frozen by this time… and he is reaching for the ring as well!

And he gets on his knee and asks her to be with him…

And guess what? She said yes! Look at that adorable couple! Don’t you just melt in this wintery weather with happiness?

Then I got a chance to make them pose for me once Alyssa knew her SO had hired us to immortalize this beautiful moment!
